Thanks everyone for your contributions, very interesting how everyone has so different preferences and experiences.

To me, this is a piece that cannot be analyzed-- no understanding of the harmonic movements or instrumentation can capture more than a tiny fragment of the piece's genius.
Much of Mozart, like the piano Sonatas, is simple enough to be reproduced by a competent student in my opinion, but this. . . this is something really special.
Have to add the death of Aerith. The theme starts at 2:24.
Best moment in all of gaming history IMO. . . my daughter and I were playing through this, and she pretty much broke down. I got "dust in my eye" and had to retire to the bathroom for a minute.
Not only a musical moment, but one of the highlights of my memories of my daughter.

Time Rider I can't explain why the soundtrack (and the whole movie) touches me emotionally but it does. It's a time travel story of the type where no paradox is possible. If you go back in time, it was meant to be. You are a part of history and don't really have the power to change anything. In this story, the flaw is the pendant. It gets passed from descendant to ancestor in an endless loop. It had no origin.
The whole thing just touches me on an emotional level that's probably not meaningful to other people. The connection between Lyle Swann and Claire is just so magical. And I just loved the music. Hauntingly beautiful and magical.
And then there is
this. I love minor key as it touches on a "mystery of the universe" feel in me. The lyrics strike a chord too as it is about someone who is coming to terms with the fact that her reality is not attuned to the perfect universe she wished she lived in.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

A good friend of mine who killed himself made this song. It's an instrumental song.

Nights in white satin has always been a favourite.
A song that really sends chills down my spine is Forever Autumn.

Was that on the musical version of War of the Worlds? The first track on that is pretty awesome.
Yes.
From the original soundtrack with Richard Burton, not the remix with Liam Neeson.
