Is a PhD in Science worth it?

RE: Is a PhD in Science worth it?
I would say that overall, in my experience, a PhD generally means less money over time compared to getting a degree and going straight into business.

There are of course exceptions as there always will be, but for every high paying job that requires a PhD, there are thousands which just require a degree and experience.

Remember also that just getting a degree isn't the end of your educational development. There are plenty of certifications around to help you advance your career.

From my experience perusing the job market over the past year or so, I agree. If I had went into the software industry right after my masters, I'd very probably have a zero more in my bank account. Which just underlines our statement above that with certain exceptions, you should first and foremost get a PhD because you care about the science.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
