Trumpcare Flopped
Here is what the fuckers are working on now.  I hear the working title is "Wedon'tfuckingCare."

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/04/upsho...c=rss&_r=0

Quote:Republican Health Proposal Would Undermine Coverage for Pre-existing Conditions

Quote:States would have the option to jettison two major parts of the Affordable Care Act’s insurance regulations. They could decide to opt out of provisions that require insurers to cover a standard, minimum package of benefits, known as the essential health benefits. And they could decide to do away with a rule that requires insurance companies to charge the same price to everyone who is the same age, a provision called community rating.

Meaning....

Quote:Technically, the deal would still prevent insurers from denying coverage to people with a history of illness. But without community rating, health plans would be free to charge those patients as much as they wanted. If both of the Obamacare provisions went away, the hypothetical cancer patient might be able to buy only a plan, without chemotherapy coverage, that costs many times more than a similar plan costs a healthy customer. Only cancer patients with extraordinary financial resources and little interest in the fine print would sign up.

That's fine with republicunts.  Just go die.

It's ridiculous. The whole point if insurance pools is to spread the risk across the most people.

Of course, when you're more concerned about saving $ than ensuring care, who cares?

Sounds like the make-up for Breaking Bad. more meth-labs-on-wheels than your heart desires.

RE: Trumpcare Flopped
It's fucking stupid.

This measure is going to price sick people without considerable means out of health insurance. Awesome, say the GOP behind this, then we won't have to pay for their healthcare.

But wait - that will leave them with essentially one option, exhaust whatever resources they have, and then go to the ER for whatever services they can get - after which, the hospital gets stiffed on the bill, and the write-off gets passed on to everyone else in the form of higher prices.

Congratulations, we all pay for it anyways. How about we do so in a way that isn't the most expensive possible (uninsured people in the ER are billed at rates substantially higher - often double or more - than the rates negotiated by insurers).

Brilliant, that.

Only in states which apply for the waiver, which is gonna be some of the Republican states, and none of the Democratic states.

Yeah, and one can hope they remember to vote in the midterms and give control of Congress back to people who actually care about them.

If Trump and the Republicans keep destroying their own base, that could change. If the Democrats can get people out to vote, that could change. Mid-terms have traditionally had low-turnouts, but there's no reason why they should continue to be.

Other than apathy, I would agree with that sentiment. I'm not saying it's impossible, and the DNC should continue to work towards that goal, that's just an honest assessment of the state of things today in my view.
