I grew up in the state of Kentucky, and I somehow managed to make it to the age of 29 before I realized that belief in creationism was so pervasive. I had always assumed that it was only a few ignorami here and there who refused to see. Now, I look back in amazement, thinking that so many of the people I grew up with most probably bought into it. I do kind of wish my youth minister or pastor would have tried to refute evolution in front of me when I was younger, it would not have taken me so long to see through the façade that has been constructed around religious institutions.
