Is there a word for?

Is there a word for?
I know there is for the now debunked crap of a earth centered solar system. And now we know scientifically that it is "heliocentric".

But is there a word for the human narcissism in all religions that our species is the center of everything?

If not, maybe we could create a word for this hubris of our species, something like "Homocentric"

"Homocentric" I would define as, "the false belief that humans are the center of the planet and universe. 2. The false perception that we can tame the earth rather than understanding in reality it is a home, not a pet."

Anthropocentric.

Meh, too many letters, I like mine better.

I also like ABBA so what does that tell you?

In all seriousness though. When I first heard Dawkin's meme theory, I scoffed at it, but I accept it now, BUT even with that, I really do think he merely came up with a new word for "marketing".

Ideas do spread physically, be they good ideas or flat out crap. Marketing sells everything, products, economic theory, political parties and religions.

It requires physical action to verbalize it or type it and put it out in any form of communication. That requires the viewer/listener to use their senses in sight and hearing and even with the blind, touch. That in turn creates new neurological pathways that retain the input, even if what you are reading/viewing/hearing is completely false.

So say it with me folkes HOMOCENTRIC is bullshit!

If it catches on, I'll be signing autographs say, a week from NEVER! Big Grin

I said to myself "Brain, do you think they will like your Katherine Hepburn impression?"

"Homocentric" sounds like a gay night club.

You laugh, but occasionally if you are paying attention long enough, you can run into some idiots who don't know what homo sapient means. Call them one and see how they respond. Yes there are a few dumb right wing bigots that don't know how science uses the prefix "homo".

If someone were to call me 'homo sapient', I'd invite them to try again.

Just to be pedantic about the whole thing, 'anthropocentric' would be preferred over 'homocentric', if we are using 'heliocentric' as the model: 'helios' and 'Anthropos' are both Greek, whereas 'homo' is Latin.

In that clip, Jim Carrey is making fun of Sally Fields, not Katherine Hepburn. Get your actresses straight!
