The ancestral home of my paternal grandmother. Southeast of Budapest. I went there, after the Iron Curtain fell. It's now a Kindergarten.

And me in 1967. I remember it so well, because my parents and brother went on a cruise to Israel this year and managed to leave one day before the 6 days war started. That gear is what they brought me from that trip.

My paternal grandfather. Never came to know him, since he already died in 1936, when my father was but 13. Boss of an insurance company, who went to great lengths to gamble his fortune away at the tables of Monacco and Abazia. Lost all in the crash of 1929, when his company went broke.

The incoming hurricane made the temp drop like 20 degrees, so I went full bubooshka. And then realized I looked like some of my Jewish ancestors from some centuries ago. And then decided I would not do that again. Also, the weather is fucking drunk and needs to go home.

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
