Y'know, being originally from Michigan and even living two years in Poland, I'm surprised I'm doing as well as I am.

Haha. You know, when I was a kid I coule handle the heat really well. We would go to Malta a couple of times a year and I would tan beautifully. I don't quite know what happened during my teens, but my hair colour got darker, my eyes changed from blue to green and ny skin became paler and prone to burning. I'd say I was a freak of nature if the exact same thing didn't happen to one of my brothers later on, and the eye thing didn't also happen to my sister. Lol

I used to work in the oil fields in East Texas. It would be 100+ degrees outside and I would be digging with a shovel in bluejeans, combat boots, a long sleeve shirt, and hardhat on.

I became so acclimatized to the heat that when we drove from one field to another, in a truck with no AC, the 100+ degree wind blowing in through the windows would cause goosebumps to pop up on me.

The human body is remarkably adaptable. And we spent the vast majority of our species' lifetime in hot, tropical locations.

Humans actually have the most sophisticated biological cooling system in the animal kingdom. Something that doesn't get near enough notice in our evolutionary history. There are a few scientists that have both pointed this out and proven theories based on it in the field.

But they are in the minority compared to their colleagues.

All this sunburn/tanning stuff is funny. I used to burn like a side of pork until I moved to southern California, and now I just kinda have a tan most of the time. I wear SPF 30 constantly, especially on my face, and I just get a little brown. It's nice, but I see a lot of my friends who grew up here and whose parents let them be at the beach sunbathing all day, and they have skin cancer now. Everybody: wear your SPF!!!

Bullshit. It's 85° and over here in North Carolina and I definitely sweat.

On the other hand, here on the east coast we have this thing called "humidity". It generates in Charleston, SC and spreads all the way up to Washington, DC and down into Mississippi and Florida. You feel like a limp wet dishrag all day long, or like you're walking through soup. You know those jungle exhibits in zoos and parks where the misters and plants make it constantly damp inside? Ain't got nothin' on summer in the south.

And depending on what swamp you walk into at the time, you'd swear you were back in the dank, damp age of the dinosaurs. Right before an alligator rolls over to look at you.

Here, you tell the weather by how fast your sunglasses fog up from leaving the A/C to the outside heat and humidity.

Your right summer the humitiy makes hot hotter and cold colder. I'm in mississippi, 100% humitiy today. It just doesn't bother me. I guess it's cause I've grown up in this heat. In the country it's better, when you have a lot of pavement it's hotter.

When I first moved down here, I had a Jeep with no a/c. It got to be in the triple digits some days on the road. In traffic, that's murder. I had a fan hooked up to the cigarette lighter port, is all. I miss the hell out of that Wrangler, but I don't miss coming into work drenched in sweat.

A couple years later, I walked out of work and realized that you knew you were insane - and acclimated - when it was in the 90's and thought to yourself "nahhhhh...ain't that bad out here."

Born and raised in Ypsilanti, and after awhile I ended up in the Detroit area. There's a suburb called Farmington Hills where I lived.
