The overall point being windmills kill less

What percentage of those killed are from an endangered species?
Assuming that endangered birds are neither more or less likely to be killed by wind turbines (petrels and condors are very likely, North African ostriches and Galapagos penguins not at all likely, so it averages out), and accepting 18000 as the number of bird species in the world (depending on what sort of taxonomist you are), the number of endangered birds killed worldwide by wind turbines is probably on the close order of 20.
For what it's worth, if it mean cheap, clean electrical power for everyone on Earth, I would gleefully strangle every last remaining California condor.

It was just a snarky comment pointing out that renewables are, on balance, much safer that fossil fuels.

As for how much wind can power, a 3 MW turbine can generate about 6 million KwH of electricity in a year (an average house uses about 4000 KwH in a year). We currently get about 5% of our electric here from wind power. Not a huge amount, true, but it is projected to triple over the next 10 years.

I live in a semi rural area with many hills they planted a lot of eolic turbines. The birds around seem ok. The falcons are using the tip to spot, crows do their shit, I let swallows ruin my house paintjob. Everyday bicicling to work I saw that couple of "peneireiro" falcons with a little guy flapping way more. Now grown up, mom and dad continue to prey. He has to find his home. With crows around he has competition. The mice population OFC protests.

If everyone had a powerwall2 from Tesla and solar panels on their roof, we wouldn't need 90% of the coal stations.
(But we won't mention the fact that the pollution created and energy used in the manufacturing process which had gone into mining and making the lithium batteries will have a negative net sum pollution effect.) Same for electric cars. But fossil fuels is not the answer, we know that. What's left? Fuel Cell? Musk says that can never take off due to the huge logistical issues of infrastructure and creating/storing highly compressed hydrogen gas. Musk also said the energy gone into creating the compressed gas also creates more pollution than it saves.
So what else guys? Fred Flintstone cars?

Most of our energy consumption that -can- be reduced comes from heating and cooling our homes. Creating a bunch of fun power generating tech seems to be the solution to the problem, but the problem is that our homes..both individually, and collectively, are inefficient and made of poorly sourced materials. Solving -that- problem preempts the need to "solve" the other. Our community planning needs to be more intentional, and our home building needs to be far, far less shoddy. The way we build our homes, and how we live in them, is an embarrassment. We create problems for ourselves that were solved before the advent of electricity all in the name of convenience and roi on a pile of sticks.

Many good points. I have to say that a natural gas power plant that sequesters all of its CO2 emissions would be a significant improvement over a natural gas power plant that doesn't, if they can actually pull it off.

Working in the oil and gas industry I can say that zero emissions fossil fuels, unless there is a staggering breakthrough, is a pipe dream. The amount of hydrocarbons vented to directly to atmosphere, because it's not profitable enough, is sickening. Even when flared off, the tonnage released daily is mind blowing.
