Dear God

Dear God
Dear God.
Do you have our interests at heart?
I believed in you.
After reading all the things you've done in the bible
It's hard to even fathom which parts to believe.
You've given me a million reasons to walk away,
but I only need one good one to stay!

And I couldn't think of one!
Fuck You and your deluded army of messengers
They worship you and violence is all that you can inspire.

(thanks gaga)

If you don't believe you'll burn in hell!

That's "good", right?

No, lots of people are inspired to do good by God.

Which is a pretty specious argument unless all people are inspired to do good by God.  Clearly, some are not.

No, lots of people are inspired to do good by God.

By the idea of god, maybe. By the fear of god. Or by the wanting of a reward of heaven. But not an actual god.

sometimes those good works come with strings attached

and if the motivation for doing them is a 'big payoff' later of some sort, rather than from an altruistic bent . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

No, it's an appropriate argument against the claim that "violence is all that you can inspire."

And you jump in on that regarding the good inspired by religion, but not the violence inspired religion, because...?

Oh yeah, if there is no god, then religions are man-made, but you guys want to somehow believe that deep down people are good, but they created religions, which are evil.

Yes, and?

Then religion created good where it otherwise wouldn't have been.

Well, we ARE human.  Unlike your god, who created evil on purpose.

The ends justify the means, huh?
