Pulse plus one year
The Pulse nightclub murders of 49 people was a year ago.

Orlando is hosting several touching remembrances and citizens are spontaneously honoring those lost.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

RE: Pulse plus one year
I heard there are some remains that family members haven't claimed. Breaks my heart and makes me want to give them a proper funeral. I can't believe its been a year. Still feels so recent. So many beautiful people are gone Sad
I was a born-again christian for many years then I got woke.. and now life is better in so many ways. It's taking me time to see my value and find my voice, but the reward is liberating knowing my path is not dictated or controlled by fear of death and the unknown.  Casting off the shackles of religion is pretty fucking awesome. The beautiful people I've met on this forum have more heart and compassion than any group of people I've been apart of. So back off Jesus and followers, because this bitch is done with Chu.  Shy

RE: Pulse plus one year
They (CBS News ?) interviewed a man who escaped the carnage by hiding in a dressing room and he wasn't reticent about mentioning survivors guilt.

Damn that's a tough thing to live with. Other than time (and Rx) there isn't much of a palliative available. And it seems most folks unaffected by it have no idea what it's like. Even at 12 Steppers* it seems there's not much support for those afflicted.

And maybe there just isn't much to be done. Even talking to another 'guilt ridden survivor' might be more of a trigger for more misery than any alleviation that might accrue.

I did find the use of it on Rescue Me interesting even useful, but like many serialized TV dramas, the writers moved on to other issues and didn't seem to revisit the topic much after the first flush.

And as for allowing time to pass, (and this is awful realizing what happened, but it's salient to how survivors guilt works) but in the case of Pulse, the event happened in a single night. The 'clock' starts the next day. That's not always how it happens.

* and while 12 Steppers is open to most all comers, there is a big difference between addiction and survivors guilt, they don't advertise as also being the answer to that, just that those afflicted are welcome too.

You know, you get all these fucking right wingers and religious leaders (often the same), saying it wasn't a bad thing and it should happen more, and then claim freedom of speech. But they scream about persecution when you say the same about their lot.

I get so pissed off with that double standard bullshit.

RIP to the innocent victims.

Demonstrating the only real difference between Muslim militants and Christian ones. Is one use guns to wipe out gay people . the other wants to use laws .
