The 2nd secret didn't say they would spread 'communism'.  It said they will spread their 'errors'.  It's vague language that they could interpret to mean anything the Catholic church didn't like (like Eastern Orthodoxy, as has been pointed out).

Prophesy would have been retconned to whoever was convenient regardless of how WWII played out.

Hell, Mussolini could have won (Hitler assassination attempt succeeded, US loses to Japan, Il Duce 'wins') and the prophecy would still be as 'true'.

I get it but lets say operation Barbarossa worked than the prophecy would have failed and how exactly would it be fulfilled if Hitler was killed. by the way what is the Vatican's stance on the eastern orthodox church?
