RE: The Future of Humanity
I'm with PKD on this one.  The future will be alot like today, only dirtier.

One day, my descendants will bitch about their morning commute - to the moon.  About the discomfort of the trip to the other side of the globe through The Fall. About how they can't properly afford the 30 second cure for cancer and aging at their shitty minimum wage job fixing temporal distortion fields.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I imagine the planet will move past us, as it has so many other species.

The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I could post this in Philosophy or General Science, but I light light-hearted responses as much as serious ones.  Smile

One way or another the planet or a meteor or a comet will get us even without our help. But currently scientists are saying that if we don't slow down climate change which 99% agree we are causing, that will lead to more human struggle over resources thus more national conflicts between nations and or a global nuclear war.

Could be as early as 100 years that we wipe ourselves out if we don't change soon.

But even with a global nuclear war, the planet and life is still one tough nut and even with another mass extinction other life will still survive. But, no matter what long after we go extinct all life will die when the sun dies in an estimated 5 billion years.

Our future will will reveal to our dying eyes the fact that while Mother Earth maybe also be ultimately doomed, she would get us real good and feed us to the cockroachs with plenty of time to spare.

If the money the world spent in a decade was spent on medicine and science, we would likely have had a permanent presence on Mars by now and be exploring the outer solar system.

Good points.  How can humanity fully unleash their potential when a good amount of their resources are used on destruction, fear, and hostility? As a dreamer and idealist, I can only imagine the type of future humanity could craft if they would contribute more of their resources to the areas that you suggested along with life in general. Hence, regarding the op, IMO, if humanity would collectively embrace itself more (I'm not implying utopia), than our future may indeed be an adventure of growth, discovery, increased cooperation, and an appreciation for our differences.
