Hell is eternal because God is infinite?

We don't see things as God does. Perhaps from his perspective our crimes aren't finite.
His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Certain humans made up the rediculous perspective, and having enough animal wits about them to know it would be seen as utterly rediculous by people of good sense, made up an awesomely threatening bogey men that requires the constant and complete debasement of your good sense in order to give their persepctive a chance in hell, so to speak.

No one sees things as you do.

Quote:There is no evidence for God or there being none. There is evidence that the likely hood of a God existing is more probable..

Would you like to have another go at that statement? Perhaps leave out the second bit. It doesn't simply contradict the first bit,it's also ,umm, wrong. As far as I'm aware ,there is NO evidence for the existence of god(s).

You think you have evidence? Please show me. I will be just thrilled and will change my position immediately, as I suspect will millions of atheists all over the world. You'll be so famous! No one in recorded history has ever managed to do what you have just claimed.

The best anyone can say is the existence of God has yet to be proves or falsified.

You are actually right in asserting at absence of evidence is not evidence absence. You are not right in asserting there is any evidence. As is common with apologists,it seem you either misunderstand or want to change the meaning of the words 'evidence' and 'probable"

These Wiki definitions cover them for me:

Quote:Evidence in its broadest sense includes everything that is used to determine or demonstrate the truth of an assertion. Giving or procuring evidence is the process of using those things that are either (a) presumed to be true, or (b) were themselves proven via evidence, to demonstrate an assertion's truth. Evidence is the currency by which one fulfills the burden of proof.

Quote:Probability is a way of expressing knowledge or belief that an event will occur or has occurred. The concept has been given an exact mathematical meaning in probability theory, which is used extensively in such areas of study as mathematics, statistics, finance, gambling, science, and philosophy to draw conclusions about the likelihood of potential events and the underlying mechanics of complex systems.

Perhaps hell is eternal because there is no more change/time?

But really the whole idea of punishment is strange. How does punishment benefit anyone, muchless a supposedly perfect God?

We humans have punishment because we seek to prevent behavior or to correct.

But an eternal hell contradicts an intention to correct, for correction implies escape, and surely a God would have better means at His disposal than inflicting pain or the threat thereof to prevent a behavior.

It makes more sense as a consequence rather than a punishment.

If God is the Creator and Sustainer of all that is good, then it naturally follows that disconnecting from God will lead to a spiral of bad.
