The X-Files
I plan on rewatching the entire series of The X-Files.

I plan on using this thread as a place for me to mention/discuss certain aspects regarding the series as I watch each episode, sort of a supernatural random thoughts thread.

To start:
Fox wears glasses in the beginning when we first see Dana introduce herself to him, though I do not recall him wearing glasses throughout the series.

Fox's love for sunflower seeds is something else they only briefly touched upon, something they did not quite stick with I believe.

I watched for a while but it became too dull and convoluted.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Fox stops the car and uses red spray paint to place a large "X" on the road. I cannot remember if that spot is shown later in the episode or later in the series, but I thought I would mention it here so as to not forget.

It's not for everyone, just as perhaps a show you might find entertaining I would find boring.

To most easily describe Fox and Dana in relation to their beliefs of the supernatural using terms we know on this forum:

Fox is a theist and Dana is an atheist.

Ah, yes, there's the red "X". Lost time.

It has clearly been too long since I last watched this show, for it is basically as though I am watching it again for the first time. I love that feeling of rediscovering something amazing.

I presume he switched to contacts.

Same with his penchant for pornography and masturbation. LOL

A recurring theme throughout the series is that Dana always misses the supernatural events that Fox witnesses. I suppose that is the only way she can retain her analytical, scientific approach to what happens.

If only she took the same approach to her Catholicism. I found that to be an interesting juxtaposition - Dana the Catholic, skeptical about everything Mulder believed in that, in the X-Files universe, was nonetheless true.

Interestingly, I remember an episode involving Buddhism where her mind is supposedly opened to the truth.

Now it is time for S01E02, Deep Throat.

That epithet makes me think of someone without a gag reflex.

The word hooey was used, lol.

Seth Green is in the second episode.

The second episode was not the first time Fox was "abducted". He sure likes to make a habit of it.

Dana was pretty badass pulling that gun on the military security guy.

Quote from the military security guy:

"Everything you've seen here is equal to the protection we give it. It's you who has acted inappropriately."

Oh, please!

Seeing the cross necklace around Dana's neck this early in the season does corroborate the reference made to her Catholicism later in the series. Though if I remember correctly, I think the necklace had more to do with her father than anything else....I could be wrong.

Two episodes is enough for now. I shall watch more later.

I watch it sometimes for 90s nostalgia, especially first seasons when they had those 90s cars. You know I haven't watch one episode with Robert Patrick. Are there any worth watching with Doggett & Scully?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

From my perspective, every episode of the series is worth watching. I'm such an X-Files nerd.
