My dictionary defines it as an extreme and irrational aversion to homosexuality or homosexuals.

Homo means same, phobic means a fear of, sure but that's still not the actual definition of the word.

I just view it as great sarcasm, sort of humor I would have used in the circumstance. I have made far worse though.
