Emotions are intrinsically good and bad

Now, the reason why I make a distinction between a thought/belief versus an emotional state is because, in order to have a positive emotion, then that requires the biochemicals to be functioning (i.e. serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin). Otherwise, you can't have positive emotions. For example, a feeling of love is a euphoric state and that requires those biochemicals to be working. During my worst miserable state, I could not have a feeling of love or any other positive emotional state due to those biochemicals not functioning. I thought/believed otherwise, but that did not work. This means that, in order to have any positive experience and any real good value perceived in your life, then that requires those biochemicals to be functioning in order to produce that positive emotional state that would allow you to truly perceive good value, beauty, and a positive experience in your life.

I am not the only one who has this worldview. There are others out there like me. So, it would be me, along with them, who are not the deluded ones. We are the few and proud.

You must mean -your- life, TD...and I'm guessing that you're not a nuerologist, or a therapist........so I doubt that you can speak authoritatively even on that, in this regard.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. You are right.  It is just my life.  But I thought that it also applied to the lives of others since I thought this is just how our brains work.

The Outer Universe Versus The Inner Universe:  I will admit, the outer universe is something beautiful and good.  It can also be horrible and disgusting, too.  The acts of a serial killer are horrible while the wonders of nature are something beautiful.  But we then must turn to the inner universe.  This universe would be our conscious reality.  This is a vital and precious universe that should never be dismissed or overlooked.  You can have all the fancy things in this world and your outer universe could be the greatest and most beautiful luxurious paradise.  But as long as your inner universe is sheer hell and empty, then none of these fancy things would amount to anything in your life.  Your inner universe would, therefore, not reflect your outer universe of a luxurious and beautiful paradise.

I think people are too focused on the outer universe and don't focus on their inner universe.  Most people drag their lives on in states of misery and think that such a life is beautiful and good to them.  Even those famous and genius miserable artists did this as well.  Just because they inspired others and changed the world to something beautiful does not somehow magically make their inner universe filled with the beauty, goodness, and joy of the inner light.  As long as your inner universe is devoid of this inner light (positive emotions), then your life is truly nothing.  You can think and believe that your life is beautiful and good all you want to.  But such words alone can never possess the power of the inner light or the inner darkness.

Seems to me that you're suggesting the inner world is much the same.....

Hardly, you've repeatedly asserted that the serial killers satisfaction is part of the only real good.  Doubling back around to describe it , now, as horrible, is pointless.  Only one can be consistently true, and you seem a little unsure of where you're at or how to get there even though you've been thrown the lifeline.

No one has to overlook their vital and precious inner world to disagree with your nonsense.

If I had to choose between the bullshit you've posted and a van Gogh, the choice is easy. The contributions of those you deride appear to be far more effective than anything you've offered at producing the positive emotions that you hold in high regard. If the quality of your respective works are an indication of the depth and value of your experiences, then it's clear that you're the emotional cripple in this equation.

In your final sentence, are you saying that if the poor quality of my worldview (respective works) reflects the poor depth and experiences I have in my life, then I respect your views.  You think that I lack some sort of alternative form of the inner light besides my positive emotions and I, again, respect your view.  But if you are saying that I am an emotional cripple because the values of my own artistic works depend upon my own inner experience, then I think that is outright false here.  Sure, the works of art would still possess their own good and beautiful values.  But I would not be able to perceive that goodness and beauty without my positive emotions since I would have no inner light.  There would be no real good value and beauty in my life just as how there would be no real red in a blind person's life.  So, I am not sure which one you are saying here.  Are you saying the former or the latter?  Lastly, my model would say that a molester who feels a positive emotion from inflicting suffering upon someone would be having good value in his life.  But, at the same time, the suffering victim would be having bad value in his life since he is in an emotional state of agony and misery.

Yes, I think that's one of the things you lack.  I also think that you lack the ability to form a consistent and sensible worldview in regards to this subject, and would probably benefit from reading more about hedonism as a position and a tradition.

RE: Emotions are intrinsically good and bad
It can only be our inner light that makes our inner universe something beautiful and good while it can only be our inner darkness that can make our inner universe horrible, bad, and disgusting.  This means that if a serial killer broke into my home, inflicted suffering upon me, and he felt a positive emotion from this, then his inner universe would be filled with the beauty and goodness of the inner light while my inner universe would be filled with the horrible and disgusting darkness since I felt negative emotions of hate and misery.  Although, that serial killer would simply be misusing the power of the inner light.

So, life is all a struggle to regain our inner light since life is unfair.  People such as serial killers and abusers have it while suffering victims are without it.  Likewise, rich and wealthy people have much of this inner light while poor people who struggle with depression and misery have little to none of it.  Even though emotions are truly the only real good and bad in our lives, we could still adhere our lives to a moral code anyway.  It would just be in the form of an idea rather than actually perceiving good and bad value such as the idea of regaining our inner light being something good even during our miserable moments where we cannot see that as being anything good.  It would, again, just be like a blind person having the idea of red in his mind, but not having any real red in his life.

One last thing here.  This is an important revelation to my worldview/theory.  Since I have established that the only way to have real good value in our lives is through our positive emotions just as how the only way for a person to have real red in his life is through visualizing red, then the only way to have real good value in your life is through wanting and liking.  Our positive emotions are an objective form of wanting and liking.  There is no subjective form of wanting and liking just as how there is no subjective form of sight. A blind person cannot have a subjective form of sight that would allow him to visualize colors.  In other words, there is only one way to visualize colors which would be through sight just as how there is only one way to truly see the good values in our lives which would be through our positive emotions.

Here is a study that shows you that our positive emotions are an objective form of wanting and liking:

Quote:We have found a special hedonic hotspot that is crucial for reward 'liking' and 'wanting' (and codes reward learning too). The opioid hedonic hotspot is shown in red above. It works together with another hedonic hotspot in the more famous nucleus accumbens to generate pleasure 'liking'.

At least you've found a way to feel superior to others, that's the main thing. Good for you.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
