FBI Director: Russia will work harder for next election
October 3, 2017 at 3:45 pm
(This post was last modified: October 3, 2017 at 3:50 pm by Silver.)
Quote:The newly installed FBI director said Monday night he does not expect Russia to back down from attempts to interfere with United States elections.
On the topic of Russia, Wray said he expects the U.S. to be better prepared to deal with threats in the 2018 and 2020 elections. But he added that he anticipates Russia will also be better prepared to carry out its efforts to interfere. "We know a lot more now than we did about all the different threats, whether it's to our election systems or anything else," the director said when asked about Russia. "I would expect that we would do better, but I also expect that our adversaries don't just coast, right? They up their game, too."

How does this not concern or scare anyone?

It deeply concerns me. They're obviously a couple of steps ahead in this race.

I hope against hope that Congress and those so-called deep state professionals take it as seriously as the problem requires because we all know the chief executive won't do a damn thing about it. His ego and fragile sense of legitimacy is more important than the integrity of our elections and the quality of information that voters consume.

In some way this deflects attention from the real problem.
It is the profound corruption and debasement of the American electorate - the fact that an amazing proportion of Americans are not fundamentally good people at heart - that was 95% responsible for trump. Russia just contributed 5%.

Concern or scare us how? Supposedly they leaked information about Hillary that we should have known anyway. Apparently Trump has dealings with Russia, but if that's the case we can just impeach him. What's the threat here?

"Just impeach him"?
Have you forgotten which party holds all three branches?

There are republicans that don't like him either, and if we tell the nationalists that he's in Russia's pocket, I don't think it will be that hard to impeach the guy.

I think you're overly optimistic myself. Because he is his own brand, his shitty Tweets and ugly views don't seem to stick to them so much, and they still have a guy in the Oval Office who will almost certainly rubber-stamp whatever legislation they manage to pass (despite themselves).
Yes, they picked a shitty horse, but I don't expect they'll treat the nation to the spectacle of a Republican Congress impeaching their own puppet.
As Petain said on assuming power in Vichy France, "They [the Germans -- Thump] will squeeze me, and throw me away once I'm dry."
Trump is no different: a useful tool, not to be discarded so long as his signature passes their laws.
