Thoughts on Hell?
#11
RE: Thoughts on Hell?
The more one things about heaven and hell, the less enjoyable and ridiculous it feels. Spending eternity anywhere will eventually become torture. What will you do with your life when you're done everything you can think of doing, and everything everyone you know can think of doing, too many times to count? And knowing you'll keep on existing for an eternity after all that? Or will we just be a bunch of lobotomized sheep after this god scoops out everything about us he finds undesirable, which I'm sure is almost all of us?

Or you can choose hell. Which is an eternity drowning in a lake of fire, or just "separation from god"? The latter sounds great to a nonbeliever who is familiar with the old testament, and the not so nice parts of the new testament. The first position being so horrible that I can't imagine anyone worshiping such a god for anything but fear. And he does command you to fear him.

The idea of people sending themselves to hell is silly too. You go to the void and decide you don't want to go to hell or heaven. Then what? This god seems to have made it an ultimatum. Unless you believe in purgatory, but even that is supposed to be temporary. Eventually someone or something forces a choice on you. People who say you send yourself to hell just don't like the idea that their beloved god created a pit of fire to torture his enemies. Unless you just believe in the "separation from god" angle, in which case I guess most people would go to gladly.

One of the weirder things is, I was taught that god wants everyone to get into heaven. He knows this isn't going to happen, but doesn't seem to care to find a way to get at least most people into heaven. The bible is basically the story of god's failure to get people to do what he wants them to do. He supposedly knows everything, and is all powerful, but isn't a very wise being. If he really does know everything he needs to know to get what he wants, and still fails, he's either a fool or lazy. Well, we know he's petty, so there's that.

I don't worry about Hell. I heard that a magical Jew was murdered long time ago, so that we can all go to Heaven. If it ever again seems likely, that we might go to Hell - we'll just sacrifice another wizard, or something...

Might prove harder than you'd think.

If you would have said that there is the hell for sure then atheists would reject your attempt straight away so you try the trick of the Trojan horse pretending that maybe there is maybe there is not but in any case atheists should change fast before is too late and the doors of hell shut behind them with no chance of going back.

That is an evil attempt to try to turn atheists into God believers.

This also goes against Jesus teachings.
You should be ashamed of your demented tactic.  Panic
Hell is a dogma invented by corrupted priest in order to keep the masses under their control.
Hell is a failure so if God would have created hell then God would be a failure too but knowng that God is not a failure then we automatically know that hell doesn't exist.  Lightbulb

Can you show us a picture of yourself to prove you really are a nun?
I know that all nuns wear garter belts and stockings so I might need to see that also.

"Jesus's teachings" nope, just human mythology.

It still would not matter if we had the DNA of the alleged character. All that would mean is a man convinced other humans to start a new religion. It still WOULD NOT make an invisible sky hero real, nor magic babies with super powers real, nor would it mean you could murder someone on a torture device and have them magically come back from the dead.

I wouldn't give this god the benefit of the doubt. If people who worship this god believe in hell, which is against his teachings, and he hasn't corrected it in 2000 years, then he is a failure.

Infinite punishment isn't just because there's no such thing as infinite wrongdoing. At some point your suffering would be equal to the suffering you caused.

Sure, sure Brian, is all mythology.
Alexander the great is mythology.
Genghis Khan is mythology in fact all history is 100% mythology.

Gee, I never thought about that Brian.  Bird

Wrong once again Brian.  Banging Head On Desk

Jesus never intended to start any religion.
In fact he was 100% against religions that is why the priests convinced Pilate to kill him.  Lightbulb

I know very very well that Jesus was not the only one teaching but because this so called SISTER is or pretend to be a Christian I mention Jesus and not other spiritual beings.
Got it now?  Lightbulb

RE: Thoughts on Hell?
Somehow sinning against an eternal god makes eternal punishment just. I have no idea why the age of the judge would factor into the judgement. Can you imagine someone passing a law that says no one is allowed out of prison within the lifetime of the judge who passed their sentence?
