Depressing christian forum posts

RE: Depressing christian forum posts
It breaks my heart to hear someone tell another person they are bad and need to say sorry simply for being born. This whole original sin crap is one of the top things that sicken me about religion.

I don't believe that.... you might want to be careful about generalizations.

Yeah, really. I don't believe that either. And i don't know any Christian denomination that would approve; although, I don't doubt that some individual Christians might have that opinion. Sounds rather insensitive, but it would be good to know the context.

Then please clarify what it is you don't believe. Is it the church teaching re, original sin or what?

Did you forget to add a smiley or are you latching on to that 'other' thread where a theist plays the victim card big time!

Same question I just asked; what is it you don't believe? Please clarify.

Why do you think that I'm playing the victim card?  I said very little and  I think your a little jumpy on the victim card thing.

I don't believe original sin means in any way, that one needs to be sorry for being born.   I do believe that I have enough sin of my own to worry about, without and sin of Adam, and that what we inherited was a sinfulness that needs a cure.

Generalizations? Please darling, tell me where in that post I generalized anything? You do know that in order to have generalized something I would have had to say "I hate that Christians say this" or "Christians believe this" I'm pretty sure all I said was I don't like when I have heard someone (opposite of general) say something to another someone (still opposite of anything generalized) But do tell where I am mistaken.

BTW to set the record straight I made that comment based on something I experienced. I once went with my friend to her church (no clue on what kind, I was like 8) and the guy with the microphone had me literally in tears because he had convinced me that I was a sinner and when I tried to say I wasn't a bad kid the answer was I was born a sinner. I was hysterical because I was being told that sinners are bad and that I was a sinner just because I had been born that way. Of course I was first in line to be 'forgiven' for being born. I was still crying when they took me home that night.

Ok... could be my mistake.... the end of your comments made it sound like you where attributing it to all.

Sorry, you had that experience. I’m not questioning your account, but you may consider that you misunderstood somethings (being 8 and all). But it could of also been them that where mistaken.... you shouldn’t judge a philosophy, by its abuse.
