Best books debunking Christianity

RE: Best books debunking Christianity
If Christianity were debunked I would just look for God elsewhere. Atheism is not a serious alternative IMHO.

Would it still be magically nonexistent?

That is one of the most intriguing things I have heard anyone say on here, where would you look Neo ?

Would you look to Islam, Buddhism.. or non of the established religions, if not then why not ?

Fuck IMHO. How is atheism not a serious position to hold to? It has well been established that God the Creator defies logic, so logically speaking, that kind of God does NOT exist. So what are you left with if you end up not believing in the classical theist Christian God? Pantheism? Polytheism?

How is not being convinced that unsupported theistic claims are true (atheism), not an alternative believing unsupported theistic claims are true (theism)?

And no, your Aquinas' beloved "5 ways" is hardly convincing.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

I would go back to the fundamentals of the Western philosophical tradition, about as far back as Plotinus. From there I would revert to the same curious interest in various spiritual traditions that I had even back when I was an atheist.

Whether someone is convinced or not is his or her subjective response. Nevertheless the logic of Aquinas is impeccable given two background assumptions which are 1) the intelligibility of the world and 2) the efficacy of reason. Accepting those assumptions is an existential choice. Those who do not accept those assumptions or remain unaware of their own assumptions are likely not to follow the 5 ways.

(my edit)

Personally, IMO, from a purely intellectual point of view, nihilism is the ultimate conclusion of any philosophy without some grounding in the Divine. I cannot say that definitively, since I cannot exclude the possibility that some historic or current atheistic philosophy of which I am unaware avoids it. Nor can I exclude the possibility that some future atheistic philosophy could provide suitable absolutes.

Likewise, do not I deny that some atheists feel justified in making moral claims or attributing purpose and meaning to things. They may find doing so satisfying; however, I believe such stances without warrant.

There's a book I'd recommend which debunks pretty much all religion Small Gods by Terry Pratchett.
