Oh, cute.

I guess my point of extending acceptance to those who are different from you - especially when others are doing the same for you - rates nothing more than clever retorts.

Mice are definitely lower life forms compared to humans but they are also definitely sufficiently advanced to feel suffering. If you don't respect that of them, why should I give a shit about people persecuting you for your absolutely disgusting (from my emotional point of view) desire to - uhhh, I don't even want to put it into writing?

You are entitled to demand acceptance (or at least respect) for your differences of which you have no control over and I'm fully on-board with that. But what's that expression about a man living in a glass house throwing stones?

You want respect about who you are? A good place to start is to demonstrate respect for creatures who are what they are through no choice of their own.

Oh, ffs.  If vermin like mice weren't routinely killed off, we'd be hip deep in them.  Commensal rodents spread disease, destroy/contaminate foodstuffs, and are (directly or indirectly) responsible for hundreds of thousands of human deaths every year.

Are you seriously contending that rats, mice, fleas, mosquitos,, and the hundreds of other pests human work to control deserve the same level of respect as homosexual males?  Fuckwit.

Fuck you, asshole!

Mice are not in the same category as insects. They are mammals with complex enough brains for us to be all but certain they are conscious creatures. They may deserve human rights but they don't deserve to be treated as vermin.

But they are vermin. Uncontrolled - they cause enormous damages, as well as endanger human lives. I don't know what your experience with rodents is, beyond a visit to a pet store, but I'll bet you don't have to deal with them much. If you had to keep them from destroying your crops, or your house - you'd get desensitized pretty quickly.

Whether or not they're "conscious creatures", you can't expect people whose livelihoods and/or health is at risk because of those b*ggers, to have much sympathy for them. It's not like you can reason with animals. The best we can do is use traps, that kill quickly - and even that is very difficult considering their numbers and breeding rates.

Do a bit of research as to how many human beings are lost to rodents and rodent-borne diseases every year.  Commensal rodents are vermin and need to be treated as such.  I'll think of you the next time I crush the life out of one.

Additionally, EABUC#2 has some long term health concerns resulting from his severe inner ear infection from summer before last. I can't take the additional risk of having another disease vector around for him. Also, with his poor coordination and balance issues from that infection, I can't have him running around the house chasing the damn things either. He tends to veer while running and plowing into things isn't good for him. He's also banned from all stairs as the risk of serious injury from falling is very serious for him. I'm caring for a special needs cat !

Additionally, I have some serious health issues of my own. I have to maintain as safe an environment for myself as possible. Sorry, no vermin allowed here.

I agree. Mice can be pretty disgusting. Take a look at this bad boy:

Although I guess it's less disgusting because the Jonas Brothers's music sucks so bad Tongue

The same could be said of humans and spoiled milk.

As far as I'm concerned you're way out of line.

I think you can't take a joke. Lol.

Vorlon doesn't crush mice with his feet, lol.

Way out of line because I value the lives of conscious creatures who feel the same things you do: A desire to survive, fear, pain?

I'll admit that I get emotional about this topic. I realize that this shit reality we live in requires to some degree that we kill other conscience beings to secure our own survival. But that SUCKS! It's not something to make light of. Anyone who takes pleasure in "stomping the life out of" a conscience creature is IMHO a depraved, fucking asshole.

I submit that we do have to do it sometime. It's a crying shame, though. Anyone who takes pleasure in such a thing is of no use to me and has none of my respect.
