Which has no bearing on anything. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. You are using an argument from ignorance.

George Takei Calls Out Anti-Gay Arkansas School Board Member
|
No, its from my own observations.
Ofcourse it has no bearing on anything, as much as what you say has no bearing either.
Well actually it does, since it is positive evidence, rather than the lack of evidence. To explain, my claim was that "it gets better" for gay teens. You said that you hadn't met any gays that were happy, insinuating (at least from my perspective) that they didn't exist. To disprove a claim that X doesn't exist, one only needs to give an example of X. So to disprove your claim that happy gays don't exist, we simply needed to point out that we know happy gays, which we have.

ok, well the gays that I know are not happy. Happy now.
No I'm not happy. You've let your experience with a tiny proportion of a group develop into a negative attitude for the entire group, and it is all based on fallacious reasoning. There is no "typical" bitchiness of the gay community, or any community for that matter. You should think about whether your attitudes are accurate before you make blanket statements in the future; otherwise you might offend someone.
ok, but people are offended all the time, including myself.
Indeed, but I can't for the life of me think why you'd actively want to try and insult people, hence why thinking about our attitudes is a good thing to do. How was the attitude formed? Is it based on any actual evidence? Should you look into it more before using it as the basis for an insult? All of these questions should be considered before you open your mouth, unless you want to wind up inadvertently saying something rather stupid d being labelled as something very nasty.

The main message of the video was clear; this guy is a douchebag, and it gets better for gay teens. I would also like to add that it was probably also to point out that even though Takei thinks that guy is a douchebag he doesn't wish harm upon him. ---- I thought the video was badass, but that's just me. But hey, you get used to it after a while.
Not at all. You'd been very well behaved as of late, although I can't say the same thing now. Disagreement doesn't mean we label you with anything...refusing to converse when you are called out might.
