The band. You made a reference to change.

Tom Sawyer the RUSH song,

"The changes are permanent, but change is"

I think I have 18-19 of their albums.

I still love their music, but looking back at it now, they come across as trust fund rock.

Seriously, how many uncles do most people have that have a Red Barchetta?

I remember when they added the 3 point shot, but I am not even talking about that. I really do not remember in either college or pro, when you got more than two free throws no matter the foul.

I think they should add a 4 point shot. Anything past half court.

I don't know when the rule changed, but it's likely to go unnoticed seeing as how the 3 free throw play is relatively uncommon. You could watch 10 games and not see it.

I remember the 3 pointer being added, I am talking about 3 shots for a foul, not the 3 point shot itself. I never saw that before that game mentioned in the OP.

That's precisely what I was talking about. Those shots are called free throws. It's not that common, so you might have missed it if it was always there after they added the 3 pointer.

Thank you, THAT was part of the answer, but still not what I was looking for.

I NEVER have seen after a foul, until this year, a player go to the line and get more than 2 foul shots for ANY FOUL.

2 penalty foul shots are all I have ever seen or known. When did the sport, allow for 3 penalty shots at the top of the key? I am not talking about the rule itself, but WHEN it started.

Unless you are saying "free throws" are the penalty shots at the top of the key. In that case, you just gave me my answer.

Yeah, free throws are 'penalty shots.' I don't think penalty shots are a term used in basketball as there are also no 'penalties'. It's free throws or foul shots.

Ok I got it now, it just seemed so weird, but also gives away my age. I haven't watched college or pro on a consistent basis since the early 90s, so watching someone get 3 foul shots was weird.

Kinda like getting  used to the 2 point conversion in the NFL.
