Yep, just another con-artist preacher who thinks he has all the answers.  Haipule, you're here to preach YOUR interpretation of a god to people who are quite convinced that no deity exists.  Yep, that's a problem.  First you need to be able to get the deity to show up in person, speak for itself (no old books, no old texts, no translations, no human fantasies) and have IT tell us what texts we should be following.  After that, you MIGHT have an audience for your "autographed languages".

I translate the bible according to it's own grammatical inflection. NOT according to stupid people whom went to seminary school to learn how to say, "Polly want a cracker"!

The 1 Timothy 2:12 reference has nothing, at all, to do with the assembly(church). First and second Timothy are letters written by the apostle Paul to a Pastor-Teacher named Timothy. In the context of the cited verse, Paul is giving instructions, to Timothy, how to teach men and women in general.

In the cited verse, Paul is instructing how to teach women. The verse clearly says in the Greek, to-teach to-women. To translate it as "Women should not teach" is way, way out of left field. Clearly the translators and clergy, and not the apostle Paul, are a bunch of sexist pricks!

The counter verse, 1 Corinthians 11:5, is even more ridiculous! In the context of that verse Paul is having fun(puns) and, he is walking on egg shells, so to speak, saying(in the Greek), "men should have an unright head, as opposed to down(not ashamedly), when they pray or/prophesy(to speak in public) or else he will dishonor his head who is Jesus(from the previous verse). And women, when they pray or/prophesy(speak in public) should speak with a mouth filter! Or, she will dishonor her head which is her husband according to the previous verse. Now, how that came to mean 'women wearing hats' or, 'forbidding long hair on men' is beyond me!

The other cited NT, so called contradiction, is just as stupid--Faith vs. Works. First of all, in order to argue this point, both parties must agree that "salvation" actually exists which it does not. Somehow, the clown John Calvin and the clown Martin Luther, established a reform(never before existed) theology known as 'salvation'(before them the argument was about, "How to be Justified"--Faith vs. Works) and now the stupid clergy argue about, "How to be saved"--Faith vs. Works.

The word translated as 'faith' means: what you trust, place your confidence in. It is NOT blind as everyone places their confidence in something. Even in stupid things like 'particle theory' which people learned in their magic books from Gurus in college.

The word translated as "works" merely refers to your job, occupation, business, etc. It has nothing whatsoever to do with anything the clergy mumbles on about.

Faith and works have do with living our lives, right here, right now and nothing to do with stupid theologies concerning some man invented "salvation" or, "justification"!

So no, there are no contradictions. Just stupid people arguing about stupid things they call "truth".

So.  I help out my neighbor when I can.  He was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1937, so he's at the point where he appreciates somebody to bring over food, help with a chore, go shopping or out for coffee, etc.  He's still sharp as a tack, though, and great company.  I love his accent.  He graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, emigrated here, and taught Ancient and Modern Greek at a Major University until he retired about 10 years ago.  He is a "Diakonos" at our area Greek Orthodox Church.

So I printed out the section above and showed it to him this morning.  He said "Who is this person?  Is he making jokes?"  "unright" ("I think that was a typo, Papou, it should have been "upright")  He pulled out his Greek Bible and read the passages.  His response was "This guy should not be trying to teach Greek to anyone.  He needs more classes and a good teacher. And he says nothing of history and context. Here, he does not even give the ancient vs modern and explain - he fails for sure. "Beyond me!" - pah! - Greek is beyond this seftis"  I replied that I'm pretty sure that we think he's a poser, I just wanted to know if any of the assertions were valid.  "Waste of time."

My guess is that you have had Greek scholars react that way before, because if you had any good translations and well-crafted arguments, you would have written them up and published them -- and you would have been quite the sensation.  Instead, you're here, in an atheist forum, throwing childish insults at the people who don't take you seriously.

A native Greek speaker and Ancient Greek Professor/Bible Scholar was not impressed with your analysis of the text.  Perhaps you should try again, with actual Greek word comparisons and historical references this time.  Not that anyone here would really care about ANOTHER translation. It's all irrelevant, really, because the Bible is a bunch of bullshit in any language, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Hawaiin Pidgin, Klingon . . .

I think it is very obvious that Bible was written by many, many people over the years who didn't even read what people before them wrote so there are so many inconsistencies that for every claim in the Bible you can find the opposite claim or place of happening. Like, most Christians if you ask them will tell you that Moses got commandments on Mount Sinai and yet in some parts of the Bible it is claimed he got them on Mount Horeb 1 Kings 8.9 "There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb."
Malachi 4.4 "Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments."

And that's how it is about everything from is lying ok or not, stealing, hating, adultery, divorce, nature of god character, who is ruling the world (sometimes it's Satan) and so on and on. So it is impossible to live by the Bible not only because it's frequently barbaric, but because it's contradictory.

I don't think many Christians think the Bible was written by god, though I'm sure a few do. I was told by both the Presbyterians and the Lutherans that it was divinely inspired which is rather different. Moses is supposed have written the first few books. The prophecies are attributed to the headliners. David gets the Plalms. Paul's letters are supposed to be Paul's. The gospels are supposed to be the various disciples and so on. Those attributions aren't accurate but they aren't a written by God claim either.

It isn't a contradiction, Mt. Sinai and Mt. Horeb are different names for the same place.
