None of you know a thing.

You know what Atlas: You're right! None of us know a thing when it comes to ultimate questions like our origins or the origins of the universe (multiverse?). Maybe we never will. But you are preaching to the converted here! Most of us believe that already!

We are not claiming to know everything; YOU are! Without any credible evidence, you claim to know the entity who created us and everything else. Is it really any surprise that we view that claim with a very skeptical eye? We've heard the claim before from countless others - and each of their claims is different! What makes you so special?
Who told you that I know?
My own holy book says otherwise:
Quote:Sura 19, The Quran:
( 65 )   Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"
( 66 )   And the disbeliever says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?"
( 67 )   Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?

Verse 65 ! I don't know anything similar to God; nothing is similar to him:
Quote:Sura 42, The Quran:
( 11 )   [He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

Nothing like him, so who told you I know?
But my holy book also told me about humans:
Quote:Sura 6, The Quran:
( 116 )   And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but falsifying.

Both of us believe.
An atheist believes in "I'm not sure what's there..probably there's nothing".
I believe "I'm sure something is there but I don't quite know what it is...".

I think verse 116 of Sura 6, exposes the people so sure of themselves riding their high horses.
I mean, why the all the wars and the killing and all the insults ?

Let's wait and see which thought is true.

Quote:Most of us are not making any special claim. We merely look at the claims others make and weigh in on them. We favor claims which are backed up by empirical evidence. Some claims like Darwinian evolution are backed up by so much evidence, we accept it as fact. The same with many theories of physics and cosmology.

That is not the impression I get from the majority of people; not just atheists.
Atheism = God doesn't exist to so many; the anti-God posts in here are the best evidence for that !

The smart, evidence favoring mentality is shrinking and shrinking as time goes.

Quote: Few of us are making any claims which are not backed up by evidence. Some of us may have our own speculations (as I do) but most of us would not claim these as fact like you and your fellow theists do.

So many do..So many. Look again.
On both sides actually.

Quote: So BULLSHIT, Atlas. We already know our knowledge is limited. It is YOU that needs to come to terms with that.

( 65 )   Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"

mmmm...okay??

Your post is pure gibberish.

If you want to discuss the prison your Muslim religion has trapped you in, then discuss it.

You are on a forum of atheists. We don't have any religion in our lives. We are skeptics (at least most of us are).

You will never convert anyone who has finally rationalized any god from their lives, because they think evidence, and not fairy tale crap.

Now if you struggle with that then go find somewhere else to peddle you stupid religion.

Watch out for the door when it slaps you on the ass on the way out.

If you plan to stay then answer this: Without the silly gibberish, why are you here?

And are you ok?  That sounds a lot like someone screaming that the whole world is delusional and evil to me.  I've been there.  It's not a good place.

None. Actually everything related to drugs is prohibited in this wasteland.
I'm straight edge currently; D. The whole world IS composed of people who kept themselves busy from seeing the pain of their fellow man.

It's very weird to be under a dictator regime, that literally burnt trillions of billions of oil money, trapped a whole population until they became ignorant of basic biology; twisted its people to grow like freaks, with no comment from the "people of the world".
People don't care. Nobody cares about you if you scream, get tortured, get killed, get burnt.  People will leave you rot and move on.

I think waking up to that is the shocking part in it all..

When you have been raised in a fundamentalist religion, questioning those beliefs and the societal mores that surround you can challenge - and stress - your entire being.
I've been there.  Not exactly what you face, because I don't know.  But I've been there.  I'm not suggesting that you should turn your back on Allah.  I'm just saying that turning your brain on and questioning can be really stressful.  I'm a little worried about you.  Keep checking in with us, ok?  Even if we make fun of a post.

Atlass33. bad shit happening in life does not mean nothing good ever happens. I lost my mom last year, my biggest supporter and the person I love the most in this world. It sucks, but she would have wanted me to be happy, and I have learned to cope. I finally got to meet my best friend in Australia. I am going to be replacing my home. I look forward to being able to take a shower again, been living for a few years now without a working shower. I will get my yard fixed too so it doesn't look like a jungle. I am looking forward to being able to invite friends over to a clean house. I plan on also buying an outdoor propane griddle/grill. This fall I will be going to Oklahoma and possibly a Dallas/Skins game in Dallas.

I do hate the global greed of far too many in the world. But, that does not mean everyone in the world who might be more comfortable are uncaring. There is lots of inequity in the world sure, and humanity worldwide could do a better job reducing poverty. But that does not mean everyone in the world is greedy. I have no desire myself to be filthy rich.

Then what are you doing here?
Don't comment on my topics so the smell of my posts don't get stuck with you.
Quote:If you want to discuss the prison your Muslim religion has trapped you in, then discuss it.

Don't manufacture an enemy that doesn't exist to bash.
In other words; don't be ignorant to think that Saudi Arabia is ruled by Islam.

If you need lecturing in Wahhabism; I can give you free courses. Just follow my topics. And go read/watch before you talk.

Quote: You are on a forum of atheists. We don't have any religion in our lives. We are skeptics (at least most of us are).

1-Go read the date of my registration.
2-From the title of the site; it's quite obvious that it's...an atheist forum?
3-Don't you ever play the "we" and "you" card, because if the forum's authors' mentality was like that, we would've became "a latin version of Saudi Arabia" already.
4-"There is no we"; talk about yourself. You're not a skeptic from what I'm seeing; you're a broken CD that is repeating the same "Islamic prison" propaganda I've been hearing from anti-theistic keyboard Jihadists for 5 years.

Quote: You will never convert anyone who has finally rationalized any god from their lives, because they think evidence, and not fairy tale crap.

Oh; wait wait wait; you thought I'm writing this for the sake of your destiny?
In other words; you assumed that I care about your destiny?

Stay away from the "we" mentality. Because it is the entrance of riding the imaginary high horse and the entrance to be so full of yourself.
Don't be so full of yourself, to think that I care about you..

My dear; you're an avatar on the internet that I don't even know its real name. I do care about some people here, I do consider them to be family even if I didn't tell them; but believe me you're not among them as far as I care.

So relax. Nobody wants to convert you. Now; pull your head off your ass and don't make hilariously wrong assumptions.

Quote: Now if you struggle with that then go find somewhere else to peddle you stupid religion.

I'm not gonna ask about your age; because that is insulting to children.

Quote: Watch out for the door when it slaps you on the ass on the way out.

Don't worry; I already lubricated the door with your ass sweat.
It's stuck now.

Quote: If you plan to stay then answer this: Without the silly gibberish, why are you here?

Don't ask too many questions ! I'm the curiosity of the institution's rival agenda; the antagonist of the tale of a man that once walked with a head inside the ass; and produced sticky ass sweat.

Not Sharia; but Wahhabism mixed with Bedwin mentality. One hell of a combination, that required the British empire along with the East India Company to work to integrate it, and leave the time bomb that got produced, to blow up generations later in the back alley of the Ottoman empire.

No doubt though that without the Islamic Sunni/ Shiite practices, and the corners of the "Sharia law" in its current form, did play a huge role in the composition of the society in this place. Long before the British and WW1 came.

Before this Saudi kingdom; there were two. This is the third.

I can say that the stress is immense. It's a feeling of isolation; D. I won't say that being a Lesbian and an Atheist can make you understand how it is; but I can surly say that humans are humans: when society decides to besiege something; making it a taboo, belonging to the taboo does make you relate.

So I can say that the common thing between me and you, is belonging to different taboos. We are "the thing the stereotype doesn't want to see". I tend to think of it this way.

I believe that to be stronger you have to push yourself, but I also can't argue that the stress can kill you eventually, or worse: hurt you permanently while keep you alive to remember the pain.
