Here's another great human.

Norman Borlaug. Called "the man who saved a billion lives".

His research in agriculture has saved countless lives. He won the Nobel in 1970.

I would say a larger number than anyone thinks were actually closet atheists

You don't kudos from theists where real progress for humanity in the world that actually exist is praised.

But how many Christian dogs have won the Nobel Prize?

It's hard to figure out the point.  The existence of smart atheists don't make us any less dumb.  Just like pointing out some smart theists wouldn't make the theists around here any smarter.

We're all fairly dimwitted around these parts.

It's a bit disingenuous to list Galileo a Christian, when he was declared a heretic by the church.

Einstein was a romantic pantheist (god to him was just a poetic word for the cosmos). He didn't believe in a literal god, not even a literal pantheist god.

To sense that behind everything that can be experienced there is something that our minds cannot grasp, whose beauty and sublimity reaches us only indirectly: this is religiousness. In this sense...I am a devoutly religious man.” In response to a young girl who had asked him whether he believed in God, he wrote: “everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe—a Spirit vastly superior to that of man.” And during a talk at Union Theological Seminary on the relationship between religion and science, Einstein declared: “the situation may be expressed by an image: science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”

Despite all the problems that he had with the church he continue to believe in God until his very end.  Lightbulb

Not that it makes a difference, but I believe it was Zyklon B.

I rarely even check this part.

I've brought up Linus Pauling before, either here or another board. Atheists usually don't appreciate his views on Vitamin C and cancer...  Cool
