One of the tricks of managing a foreign official whom you have secretly turned is to allow him to be seen doing something major to hurt your country.   That way the foreign official is seen as patriotic, ssuspicion on him is deflected, and he remains in a position of trust amongst your enemies,  and he remains available for further and more effective use at more decisive moments.

Putin needs trump to stay in power.   Putin, unlike trump, thinks ahead, and subordinates his personal vanity to his final goal.

Putin gets a far stiffer hard on from the disintegration of the western alliance and the collapse of inclusive, collaborative liberal democratic politics in the US than he could ever from being seen having the loofa faced shit gibbon personally sucking his cock.
