"For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction(suffering). For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another."(Isaiah 48:9–11).

Even death seems more valuable then endless servitude in fear while awaiting magical handout. Religion is really insulting in it's own unique way.

Despite PERSONALLY witnessing Plagues of Egypt, Parting of the Red Sea, and being led by a pillar of fire across the desert, Moses's unimpressed Jews apostatized the first chance they got and started worshipping a golden calf instead of their Almighty God.

I could see that God sending some harsh missives their way, fickle bunch of slackers that they are.
