Would you agree great white sharks or Orcas are apex predators?

Ok, I'm a lumper.
I don't think that having a head start makes us special.
Maybe we would be special if no other animal could achieve our status given enough time and our absence.
I think the next extinction event is just around the corner and in a hundred million years some other animal will be saying the same things, oblivious to the fact that our extinction paved the way to their evolution.

Maybe, but we'd be the only one that aliens would be able to express their thoughts and we'd be able to communicate back. Even a chimp can only express the most basic things.

Philosophy is what makes us different.

If they have thoughts, ofc.  We might be totally geeked out about a plant..and, after killing all the sentient natives we couldn;t care less about..get down to the business of exploiting useful exobiology.

Wink

In any case...yeah..sure, there are plenty of things that make us different from x.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It has been said that the highest attainable goal of human life is to depart the world dead broke and owing a massive debt that can never be collected, mostly by republicunt voters I would imagine.

If we try sufficiently hard to attain that goal as a specie, we might preclude the rise of any future species as plague like and vainglorious as we, and thus gauranty we remain special forever, at least on this earth.
