When I transferred to Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, back in 1975 one of my guys asked me if the locals celebrated Cinco de Mayo?
"Why would they do that?"
"Well, they speak Spanish."
I kept a closer eye on him after that.

Given that the remix of Season 4 of Arrested Development just dropped on Cinco de Cuatro, a variation on the theme from that very season, I think I may have found something.
Comparing the Universal Oneness of All Life to Yo Mama since 2010.

Cinco de Mayo is a bigger deal in my sister city, St. Paul, than it is here in Minneapolis. It sounds like a great excuse to eat Mexican food and get hammered, but it's like three buses to get there.

Herding sheep. Not sure if that's a mexican thing or not.

Pretty sure that the shepherds who migrated through my hometown with sheep in the late '50s and the '60s were Basque. They would herd the sheep along, and sleep in a trailer that was towed to the next expected overnight stop location. Whatever the nationality, one of my high school friends spotted one of 'em pushing a sheep into his trailer.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
