Theatre means a place where you see a play or something to me

Agreed. But if you want to watch a film you go to a cinema.

One curiosity about Chicago is that "Going to a show" means a movie. Everywhere else in the USA, as far as I know, a show is a live performance of some kind.

Also it's aluninium, aluminum is not a word.

aluminum isn't a word then what is it? only the chemical element, a light silvery-gray metal.. hehe Tongue
meh.....my English sucks, so now I'll stop talking at all..

more example please!!!
"Alone is what I have. Alone protects me."
“I may be on the side of the angels but don’t think for one second that I am one of them.”
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day."

For us Brits the correct response is to take the 'e' out.

So it's "centring". Does that like better? Smile

Personally I prefer American spellings as they tend to make more sense. So----I guess----I'm a treacherous Brit Tongue

That probably is true in the medical profession.  I'm British though and I don't think of either a movie theater or an operating room.

You go to the theater to watch a musical or a play.

The cinema is where the films are.

I don't know about the operating room because I've not had an operation or performed one, it's never entered my vernacular.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

And I thought theater *was* the American version...
Although, both spellings look "correct" to me, and I'm sure I've used both without even noticing it.
