How Hopeless Is Voting?

RE: How Hopeless Is Voting?
Voting is the civilized, respectful way of saying your opinion.

Otherwise; how do you suggest we decide what to do on a big scale? If you make a decision go using force; then you just turned into a dictator and thought that you, yourself are God. You just impersonated the Lord without being worthy of it.

History says that; ask every dictator and they'll tell you. You don't go against the opinions of the masses to force your own point of view.
Voting saves life, and prevent lots of barbaric solutions like military invasion.

I voted for it being hopeless; ironic, right?

RE: How Hopeless Is Voting?
I'm immediately suspicious of any argument that casts doubt on the value of voting in a free and fair election. Here in the US we have various factions trying to make it more difficult instead of easier for citizens to vote. Convincing people - including people who are polar opposite of me in their political beliefs - to skip voting isn't a good idea.
With that said, however, I didn't vote in the 2004 presidential election as I was still pissed after the Supreme Court basically selected George W. Bush as president in 2000. But I still cast a ballot in all the other local and state elections, I just left the presidential vote line blank.

Voting on a large scale isn't pointless, its the best check we have come up with so far against dictatorship, which is what every other system of government eventually devolves into.

On an individual level it's pointless though.
