RE: Why do people believe that Beowulf is fiction?
No...lol, you haven;t. You base ass liar, lol. Shouldn;t the thing people say in defense of their gods be true, at a minimum? Do you really have to argue for the Loch Ness Monster, first?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Really, I've seen dragons and sea serpents on the discovery channel and in science books.   I've also heard animals that can talk such as parrots, or through sign language such as Gorillas.

Do you dismiss a priori these things that I have seen as fiction?   I suppose that some people do dismiss the moon landing and the holocaust; from what I gather it was mostly based on incredulity.   Do you agree with them as well (or I assume at least justify their method)?

I guess an honest conversation in good faith was too much to ask. I'm about ready to dismiss anything you say a priori as mealy-mouthed weaseling.

No ancient reptiles were dragons or sea serpents that's creationist bunk .And that's not the kind of talking were referring to . And comparing a rejection to your oft refuted fairy tales to moon landing deniers or holocaust denial is so absurd it does not even warrant a refutation .

A wise idea .

I was being serious, and trying to have an honest conversation.  You can do as you like, but I think that your rule you applied is flawed and not based on good principle and reason. Mostly, because it has nothing to do with the thing in question and whether it actually occurred.

You know.,...the sad thing..is that that;s not true.  Other cultures have no problem openly owning the fact that their stories are myths. There;s no real old man coyote...everyone has always known that.,..but it doesnt detract from the myth of old man coyote. The abrahamics are really odd birds, on that count.
