Learning Hindi as a second language

Learning Hindi as a second language
Since Hindi/Urdu is the 3rd most widely spoken language in the world, I thought it would be good to study it. I already know some Hindi from school in India. So, I decided to watch a Bollywood movie called Devdas. I was smart enough to turn the subtitles off as I want to learn Hindi in terms of Hindi, not English. I ran into a slight problem though: 70% of the movie were song-dance routines. I had heard of the infamous Bollywood song-dance routine but I thought this would be limited to just one scene. I turned the movie off before I even got to the halfway point. How am I going to learn Hindi at this rate?

Is it possible to download Hindi TV shows on itunes? I somehow feel these may be less afflicted by songs/dances.

Can you not just check yourself? Huh

Somehow I suspect this thread is meant as an innocuous intro to offhand sounding disparagement of Hindu culture. But I will give you the benefit of the double for the moment.

I should learn spanish! But I would not subject myself to daytime Mexican TV.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!
