I’m just curious; how many times did you proofread these posts? I’d be too afraid of making a stupid mistake myself; even if autocorrect did it. Wink

What's ironic?

People tend to forget that Jim Crow laws were just that: laws, restrictions on individual liberty imposed by the government. So while you may think you are criticizing the libertarian approach you are actually making the case for it.

Perhaps but we all make spelling errors. Resorting to insult rather than provide a reasoned response says more about his lack of wit than a simple error.

With or without the blessing of law, bigoted shitwads will be bigoted shitwads.  If we had no civil rights legislation..we know exactly what a significant segment of the american public would do...because they try to do it even though we do have those laws, even though what they;re doing is illegal...and they bitch and whine and moan about it the entire time.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

In the case of that comment an insult was a reasoned response your bigoted drivel deserved little else .

You should probably read up on Jim Crow laws and how they came into being.

No Jim Crow laws were not the evil government imposing racism in a vacuum .They were a reflection of racist attitudes of the time ironically enough passed into law . You libertarians live in a fantasy land if Jim Crow laws were not imposed the people of the age would have imposed them anyway because they were fucking racists.

The social reality of 2018 is much different from that of the 1960's. I agree that it is niave to believe that the legacy of Jim Crow would have instantly solved itself based entirely on the personal choices of businesses and individuals. Segregation was an overwhelming cultural evil despite also being propped up by government force. Businesses catering to blacks would likely be shunned and black patrons would almost certainly have been harassed by outsiders. I acknowledge that in the specific case of African-Americans there was a highly compelling national interest, unique in American history, to use some state power to correct the injustices and legacies of slavery and segregation. At the same time, that could not have occurred without first removing the legal barriers that restricted the personal liberties of African-Americans.
