"Securing America’s Election Act" Has Gotten Little To No Media Attention
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Introduces Securing America’s Elections Act to Ensure Integrity of 2018 Elections

VIDEO:

And here's a video by Computerfile explaining why electronic voting is a really bad idea:

Surely the likes of Rachel Maddow and, well, Democrats in genera,l should be in the media every single day pushing for paper ballots to secure future elections? Why aren't they? Paper ballots are important for electoral integrity. I thought the elections being "hacked" was a really pressing issue. If you use paper ballots elections cannot be "hacked".

Where I'm from we mark paper ballots with a pencil. There are no machines involved anywhere in the process (except the printing of the individual ballot papers, obviously) and counting is done by hand by real people who all have a stake in the election. It has never occurred to me to use a machine in an election.

The election machines all have proprietary programming (correct me if I'm wrong) and this means that the average voter cannot know what the code is doing. How do we know faulty or nefarious programming was not the reason Donald Trump is in the Oval Office? What's so bad about paper ballots anyway?

You could stop "hacking of the election" by using paper ballots. The Democrats should be on TV every single day pushing for paper ballots. Why don't I hear the partisan hacks - who are apparently so concerned about democracy - pushing for paper ballots?

Because even if paper ballots are immune to hacking they have issues of there own. Such as cost and resource constraints

You put a price on free and fair elections? The cost of elections is seriously a consideration for the richest country on Earth? Are you for real? They use paper ballots in so many countries which are demonstrably poorer than the USA and you're talking about the cost of elections?

The problem with paper ballots is the same as any other ballot.

Quote:I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this — who will count the votes, and how.

Yes of course i put a price on it as there is a price on it . And yes the US is a rich country but the US being a rich country and spending that money effectively are different things .As for countries which are poorer are any of them equivalent to the US in pop size ? How many of these countries have similar election structure ?what's there rate of non hacker related  voter fraud in those countries? Do those countries take the same measures needed to insure security as America would have too . I could go on ...

Well the USA can afford that uncessairly huge military budget. So it should be able to afford elections. Maybe cut the kilts budget by just a little bit?

And secondly, India is several times bigger in terms of population AND much poorer. A country of over a billion people that uses paper battlots. Maybe next time don't complain when the election gets "hacked" and somebody like Donald Trump gets into the Oval Office.

Here is a picture of a ballot paper from India so everyone can see how silly you are:

1.I agree with slashing the military budget .Question is will that lead to an efficient system?

2. You do realize India has a long history of voting fraud and corruption in it's electoral system. So maybe not the best example

3. I don't want another Trump i also don't want a poor electoral system in the states .

Just to add, India uses first past the poet (i.e Winner Takes All) which is the same election system as the USA. The paper ballot shows the BJP symbol, thus proving that it is recent. If India, a county of over a billion people can manage paper ballots then so cN the USA!
