RE: Question about caffeine
I love black coffee. I drink 4-6 cups daily. I used to drink much more.  I also love black/ green tea. I have a coffee tattoo. I love coffee.

I'm really sensitive to caffeine and won't have more than a single small coffee in the morning when I get up if I have a busy day ahead. I actually really like coffee now. But because I am so sensitive to it and it does disturb my sleep, I can easily get addicted to it. I notice that it also makes me more nervous as well. Which is a shame because I have been using cannabis to learn to chill out. I find cannabis far less addictive than coffee or alcohol.

Considering my history with much stronger stimulants, one would think i could develop a caffeine addiction. But for a year now I've only drank it 3 or 4 times per week.

Agreed about cannabis. I think it is addictive in some ways, but night and day compared to other substances.

I'm like this as well, only I can't even drink one small cup.  Half a cup, but I usually stick to a few sips out of my hubbies cup Smile.  I can drink about 1 cup of tea, as it is milder.

Cannabis makes me nervous, too, unless I use it for a little while, then I develop enough of a tolerance that It takes a lot to make me nervous.  If I haven't had it regularly, even one tiny toke can give me an anxiety attack. I stopped using it at all because constantly stoned or often freaking out is no way for me to live.

As to Aegons point, I think it is more socially acceptable than any other drug because it does not have the harmful side effects.  Certainly it is addictive, as people develop tolerances, and suffer withdrawals.  But it takes very little, compared to other substances, to stop using it, and it's not like people everywhere are ODing on caffeine.  All the same, it is pretty funny how people make light of their addiction!

I mean, if you inserted any other addictive substance in there, this would not be funny.

RE: Question about caffeine
The euphoria after the dose of caffeine is really noticeable. It's like i'm a totally different person - optimistic, confident and ready to for anything.

I drank half a bottled coffee the other day and I couldn't stop moving around and talking. If I drink a whole cup I too get the gitters and start shaking. I couldn't imagine being that wired every day, it would be exhausting.

I know you get used to it eventually but geez until you do...

At that point, you feel normal with it, and feel like shit without it. You never feel like you have extra energy from drinking it. It's just getting you back to normal.

I'm down to 2-3 cups a day. If I know I'm going to need a boost, e.g. have a long drive starting at 2, I skip it in the morning (or just have one cup of half-caf), so that when I drink a cup at 1:30, it has a noticeable effect.
