Why God chose Abe

Haha. My working hypothesis at this point is that grau is an unrequited teenage boy. Nothing wrong with that, we have all been there in some form, male or female. Graus real issue is that most of us have just a wee bit more mileage on the clock, and have lost patience with the whole philosobabble malarkey that so enamoured us when we were also teens. Over time that morphed from being convinced you had solved the multiverse to wow, me and everyone else is vaguely groping in darkened room.

Personally, I like it that way. I had my moment of being certain that I had figured it all out, but the years taught me that no you bloody don't, nobody does.

So with that perspective, return to the topic at hand, why did god choose abe? (note spelling) Well why did harry choose hermione? Those are as real, right?

And that really shuts down the argument. Once one is in the place of comparing different imaginary characters, the argument gets odder. Ah, but jebus is real, it says so in my magic book. Sure, but in my magic book harry, hermione, and platform 9 3/4 are all real. Whats the difference?

The difference is that I know who wrote my magic book. They don't.

I liked the parts where these old yahoodies tolchock each other and then drink their Hebrew vino, and getting onto the bed with their wives' handmaidens.

How about Jacob? He was ruthless and selfish (waited until his brother was starving, then conned him into giving up his inheritance for beans) Cowardly. When Esau was justifiably pissed and would've probably killed him, he used the women and children in his camp as human shields, basically.

Funny how the Christians don't usually condemn Jacob for being ruthless(after all Esau couldn't really have been in that bad of a state, holy god would have rejected Jacob)
but condemn Esau for caring too much about eating.

It never occurred to them that Esau could really have been that hungry. People say they wouldn't have done the same thing. If they didn't eat for a week or two, I'm imagining they'd change their minds.

Mind you, it likely never happened. But dogma robs people of their imagination (or common sense).

Yeah, and when you go down the list, it's mainly "Mother of", "Wife of", "Daughter of", "Concubine of". Those are the important parts, when it comes to women in the bible. They are almost always sattelite characters of important men. Admittedly there is a prophetess and a queen hidden in there, though.

Do you mean Jezebel, "a woman who did evil in the sight of the Lord"? whose corpse was eaten by stray dogs?

Compared to "Eve" she got off light.  I guess 'god' was losing his touch by then.

I’m less concerned about the patriarchy and more wondering why god always chose jerks.
