Why can't you block staff?

Because we can have really important messages to deliever. Such as giving your heart for valk to experiment on, or Vorlie, to poop on yer mouths.

Can't you people just leave us well enough?

Just leave us well alone banning spam and whatnot.

Reason: I think it is important to have feedback on what others think of your contribution to the greater AF community for 2 reasons:

1. Personal growth. While you may think your quality, content and tone are seen as positive contributions, others may not and changes can be made.
2. Improve quality of overall forum. Everyone has a threshold where if the quality of discussion falls below it, they will consider leaving. If members know and use the feedback loop of "Ignore" purposefully, I have to believe it will make a difference in overall quality. Improvements in quality will increase retention. Increased retention improves quality.

Good idea? Bad idea? Impracticable? Impossible? Another method with same goal?

I am sorry my last answer was short. Its that you can't offer much than the two hookers and alot of blow that Tibs send us all.. I will  lobby the staff if you can offer me twice as much Tibs offsred me.

All my suggestions through this medium have not panned out whatsoever.

I think the reason we can quietly block people is to help the forum avoid drama.
This idea would cause the forum to explode in drama; kaboom.

I agree with Brian. Although I'm sure Steve means well, this is a poorly thought out, downright bad idea.

Mind-shatteringly bad idea.  Deserves a BAFTA in the 'Bad Ideas' category. Could easily make the cover of 'Bad Ideas Magazine'.  On a badness par with the following ideas:

-Parachutes made of rocks

-Scuba tanks made of cheesecloth

-Presbyterianism

-Lutefisk

-Low-fat anything

Boru
Gas station sushi
If The Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.

It's all been said. But here is an idea for you, Stevie. Before you block someone send them a PM to make sure they know that you've done it and possibly to explain why.

What if you were at the top of that list? Would you still be in favor of it then?
I'm not sure at the moment how many I have on ignore - likely only 3-4 max, mostly because I think they're here to troll or seek attention. Everyone has their own reasons for setting someone on ignore and a list is just a bad idea.

This is similar to the suggestion that we have negative rep, and likely is undesirable for similar reasons. Negative feedback of itself doesn't generally lead to positive outcomes. The positive feedback of kudos and rep is eminently preferable.
