I must confess that I like tackling difficult topics and trying to understand them (what makes it all work?). For the past several years, a particular area that has given me plenty of opportunities to practice this is mathematics (especially proof-based mathematics). In addition, I also enjoy breaking down challenging concepts and explaining it to others in a way that makes the material interesting, fun, and simple.
The biggest thing is probably gaming. My grandmother bought the family a Commodore VIC-20 in the early 80s because she felt that computers were going to be more important as time went on, and wanted my brothers and I to be comfortable using them. So, at 2-3 years old, I was playing the classics like Pacman, Q-Bert, Frogger, Radar Rat Race, and Gorf. Been an avid gamer ever since.
I used to consider myself into web development, but I'm feeling pretty burnt out. I hate dealing with clients who demand that their websites look like something leftover from Geocities because they haven't realized that the web has progressed since 2002. I want to get into infosec, but have no idea where to start. Beyond that, like most nerds, I go through phases. Sometimes I'm really into Star Trek/Wars. Sometimes I'm into D&D. Sometimes I'm into cyberpunk. Etc.

Besides arguing with other doofus's online I love cooking. Family relations too, but I usually cook for my family as a way of relating. Before I turned to a 27 year career in nursing I cooked for 15 years. I have continued to cook as a hobby. I love cooking for friends and family and hearing their compliments. Today I made a roasted Roma tomato/ Habanero sauce, guac, and grilled London broil. 4 of us went through 4 lbs of steak. I take that as a compliment.

I'm sure I speak for many of us here when I say you have an untouched wealth of compliments to be had from our lot. Yours truly, The locusts
I've always been passionate about cats.

Family first and foremost.
Then books. Primarily fiction, but not exclusively. I tend to sci-fi and fantasy, but will read most anything that grabs my fancy. Thrillers, dramas, horror, suspense, even the occasional (Gene Wilder) romance. I read everywhere. In the car, on the bus, sitting at work, mowing the lawn, lying in bed... If my hands and/or eyes are engaged with other things, I have audio books. In a bad year I'll get through over 100 titles. In a good one, I'll do a book a day or more After that, Denver/Boise State Bronco football games, but not as much as I used to be. Superbowl XXIV left me devastated for weeks. Superbowl XLVIII I turned off at half time with better things to do.
Thief and assassin for hire. Member in good standing of the Rogues Guild.
Rock climbing. I don't think about being an atheist every day, although I do think about it frequently.
I've structured my whole life around rock climbing. I live in an RV and work as little as possible so I can rock climb more. |
