Well, since Kavanaugh is only a few years older than me, he likely will be on the Supreme Court for my lifetime. If Trump is president for another 6 years - and I believe he will be - he and his conservative minions will possibly have at least another 1-2 Supreme Court picks.
And does anyone actually believe that Democrats will take over Congress this year or in 2020? I don't. I have so many friends who complain about the state of affairs on social media but then are MIA on election day.
I'm thinking about leaving the US the first opportunity I get, probably after my kid finishes college. Sooner if I get even a whiff of a slide toward personal danger for myself or anyone close to me.

But seriously, if/ when I go, it'll likely be Mexico. The cost of living is cheap and I have a number of Mexican friends and family members on my daughter's dad's side that can help us get established there.
Fun fact: There are > 800,000 US immigrants living in Mexico.

This was a turning point of history and it tipped the way I thought it would. The stupid way that dooms us all. Oh well gotta laugh.

I've been trying to hammer this point home for quite sometime. Brian gets angry and it's reflective in his posts and he vents here, which is fine occasionally. But he's got the wrong target audience. Trump isn't part of these forums and he couldn't care less about what people here, think. The caps and extreme use of punctuation marks is very difficult to wade through and doesn't accomplish anything.

If all he needs is to vent, then he´d be better off to shout against a wall at home instead of bothering other people online, people who even agree with him on many things.

Absolutely. He can be very insightful at times but much of that gets lost with the all caps and anger that drips out of his posts. It's one of the main reasons why I generally skip over his posts. Sorry, Brian... I would really read more of your stuff if you'd tone it down and understand that you have the wrong audience for your anger.

It's always alarming to me when people's first reaction to sexual assault allegations is to dismiss it or figure out why it isn't valid, i.e. it happened x amount of years ago, why didn't she report it then? Or... can we really trust her word, she was drunk! or something along these lines.

Yes, women lie about allegations from time to time. In my opinion, those women should be punished legally. Men as well. Anyone who makes up false allegations about someone should be punished, that's wrong. You can ruin someone's life with even false allegations. So yea, that DOES happen. But why would you assume that first?

It’s not an argument.  I’m just pointing out that all caps internet “yelling” does not make people listen to you “more” than just saying the same damn thing like a normal person.  You are smart, educated, well-informed, and you make great arguments, but I tend to skip over your posts these days because you’re always swearing, name-calling, and yelling.  It’s off-putting.  If it’s off-putting to those who agree with you, imagine what little impact those posts are having on people who disagree with you.  You might as well be screaming at thin air.  You don’t get through to anyone with this approach.
