RE: This is me.
Thank you all for making me feel so welcome!

And yes, I'll share the story of the town outing me to the paper soon.  (Very) short version is that it was (I suspect) a kind of retaliation move on their part for a victory I had *against* the town board.  living in the thick of the bible-belt I honestly didn't know whether it would result in something like a cross burning in my yard, but thankfully it turned out to be kind of a dud, reaction-wise.  In fact some time after all that, one of the board members wound up trying to press me into running for his seat when he decided not to run for re-election.  I didn't do it, but it was really nice to know I would have had his backing if I had decided to run.

And I LOVE the "alerts" feature here!

EDIT: The hosting site you use doesn't have a secure endpoint, sorry!
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

RE: This is me.
I forgot to mention that I once landed the role of "God" in Mark Twain's play The Diaries of Adam and Eve.

For two months every time my husband was foolish enough to ask me anything like "who do you think you are?"  I answered, "I am God."

I was basically intolerable.  I'd do it again.

You might both want to read "Stranger in a Strange Land", by Heinlein. "Thou art God", indeed. Big Grin

Oddly enough, I was re-reading Brave New World when I found out about the auditions.

Praise be to Ford.
