Rob's D&D PbP

RE: Rob's D&D PbP
"If we take her funds she has nothing to pay for our deaths with, it would be better if she was turned over to the authorities, she could bargain for leniency in exchange for information on the opium trade which could in the long run lead others to our escaped enemy if we can't catch her this night "

"I vote we split up and make a run for the stashes, one of you head to the other, me and who is left head after our quarry "

Staring at bound Amylda Erus speaks towords the party "For those with week constitutions you may not want to be present." Erus grabs a clump of cloth and shoves in Amylda's mouth.

He stares at her dead eyed and allows any that do not to be present to leave.

Then with a deep breath "For what's it worth you where right to be warry of me. But if your where smarter you would have picked a better place to try to stab me in the back. I'd like to think we COULD have had a professional relationship. But now we'll just take everything." He walks over to a pitcher and bowl of water and cleans his hands. Taking his time to dry them. "Death for some is a blessing. Revealings one's soul from a physical life of torment." Walking closer to Amylda "I can see you quiver dear" He slowly rubs the back of his hand down her face. "Don't worry my dear. I have no plans of killing you. If I had I would have let you bleed out on the floor. " He then squeeze's her cheeks tightly "No "Blessings" for those that cross me."

Snaching his scythe with a quick flick he cuts off her nose.

Brushing her hair "Shh Shh Shhh dear. Save your energy. the worst has yet to come."

As he proceeds, he plucks out her left, then right eye. Slices off her fingers and her toes. Everytime she passes out from exostions he waits then moves on to the next. In the final screah he grabs her tounge and cuts it out of her mouth.

He cleans his hands once again. "Are you still with me dear? If the pain hasn't numbed you senses yet you will notice your ears are your last appendages I have yet to remove. These I will leave you with. So that you can hear ever babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries, and every man that gags. "Dear GODS! What is that thing" will be the only thing that will echo in your perfect ears. This is what happens when your FUCK with Erus Mortis! And any that accompany him."

He spits on her then leaves.

So, before all that happens, we'll assume the other four split up to look for the other two stashes. Darykis goes with Simon, and Stanis with Khah. Darykis tells them how to find the flat near the warehouses and gives them a key. He tells Simon he'll take them to the third stash.

Simon heads with Darykis. "We're going to a tavern. We rent out space from the owner who is paid enough to not ask questions. I don't know if Cathi will be there or not. I'd guess not, because the flat was closer, and she can't carry all of either stash, let alone both."

The two of you arrive at a tavern called 'The Sledge'. The sign looks like a big, stylized hammer. Are there any precautions Simon wants to take before entering?

Stanis and Khah run in the direction of the flat. Khah points out "This is about the same direction I was chasing her."

The flat sits by itself across from a poorly maintained park, near a bunch of warehouses. It's supposed to be on the second floor. Is Stanis taking any precautions before entering?

While the other groups are out, Erus succeeds in torturing Amylda. Before you leave, do you want to empty the stash here? You've heard it's in the basement, but it may also be trapped.

OOC: Stanis would prefer to back up the sneaky cat man, who goes in first all stealthy like, with my lute out and playing. But if that's not an option, or if Khah would have an easier time inflicting sneak damage by shooting at something that saw Stanis first, Stanis will unsheathe his +1 longsword, and cast Detect Magic (cantrip) & concentrate to keep it up for as long as he can, while moving deeper into the house. Basically he's looking for magical traps.

[Edit] Of course keeping my eyes, ears, and nose, open (spot/listen checks) to detect where the woman is.

Khah can sneak in first.

Hide -> d20+13 = 33
Move Silently -> d20+13 = 14

He comes back a few minutes later. "She is not there, but she was here recently. She left the door open. I don't think anyone else went in. Shall grab some stuff?"

How does Simon want to handle the tavern with Darykis?

Well, my good cat, I guess we could at least see how much of it we can fit into our pockets. I could turn my traveling cloak into a makeshift sack, as well. If we can't haul it all away at once, what would you suggest we do to secure the rest of it against being pilfered? Should we stay here, and wait for the others? I don't know where the other stash is, that Simon is being led to.

"We don't know where they're going. We could wait outside a bit... Anyway, we should loot this place."

You head up to the apartment. No one has been going into it, it seems. While the building looks rather shoddy, a watchful eye would notice the door to the unit, and its frame are of much better construction than the doors in the rest of the building. As soon as you walk in, you can see some fairly obvious traps rigged on each side of the door.

The unit itself is nothing special. Plain walls and cheap furniture. There is a door to a bedroom open. An open safe is built rather securely into the wall. Coins are scattered all about the safe and the floor. Assuming you don't want to take the time to count it out, you're estimating there is over 5,000 gp here. That's north of 100 pounds of coins, which the two of you could carry.

The other bedroom is much smaller; only large enough to hold a small bed and night stand, and barely enough room to walk around to make the bed. There is a closet, with an open door. Looking in the closet, it is a false wall, leading to the rest of the bedroom space, which was walled off to create a secret area. There are shelves with many glass containers. The left side has empty glasses, and the ones on the right are filled with a weird brown resin. A few are scattered on the floor.

B4 we go in, intimidate  "I'll be watching , be careful , my hammer breaks bones "
 'The Sledge' sounds like a place for Simon. Hammer in hand follow D in. Try to look over his shoulder at the bartender or anyone who seems to take more than a casual notice of our entry. Any signaling ..

RE: Rob's D&D PbP
Intimidate -> d20+3 = 21
Darykis opposed roll -> d20+3+0 = 5

"I just want to get my stuff and get out of here."

The tavern is dark and it takes Simon's eyes a moment to adjust. There are three people playing some weird game involving wooden tablets and dice, one woman sleeping on a table in a corner, and the bartender. The bartender looks like a tall, barrel-chested woman with red hair, who is probably in her 50s or 60s. Or she's younger and lead a really hard life. Either way, your first impression is she looks a lot like a cranky female dwarf who happens to be the size of an orc.

The people playing their weird game watch Simon walk past, and the bartender watches his approach.

Sense Motive -> d20+3 = 23
They don't seem to bear any ill intent, but they feel Simon is out of place.

The bartender's eyes shift to Darykis. Her voice is higher-pitched than expected: "Not your usual entorage..."

"Yeah, I'm afraid plans changed rather suddenly. Did Cathi stop by?"

"Not since the four of you were here two weeks ago."

"Good. We're gonna go down for a couple minutes. A few other people might come by later, too."

"I'm not going to pick into your business."

"I'm getting... bought out. I'll make sure you're paid through the month, and these other guys can work out whatever they want with you."

"Sigh. I rather liked getting paid to rent out space I wasn't even using, anyway. Take whatever you need. You want to take a pint on the way down? On the house."

"I'm good. Maybe this beefcake wants one, though."

Darykis takes Simon behind the bar, into a store room, and down a wooden staircase. It leads to a storeroom about the size as the back of the bar. He goes up to a wood-backed shelf with boxes, points to it, and asks Simon to slide it to the left. While it is heavy, it moves surprisingly easily; the boxes must be empty, and it glides along catches in the wall. It opens into a room about the size of the rest of the tavern. The ceiling is stuffed with straw, which deadens the noise from upstairs. There is a metal rod hanging on the wall with a rag over it. An eerie green light is coming from under the rag. Darkyis points to it and tells Simon to take it. It's an ever-burning torch. The rag is likely there to keep too much light from coming out from behind the fake wall.

The room is bathed in a green light. There are boxes and shelves all throughout the room. They are all very similar in appearance, and there are so many, it looks like a mini warehouse. Darykis moves to certain boxes quite quickly, popping tops off. They are all filled with straw or rags, but he moves them aside to reveal bags of coins.

"Each of these bags should be exactly 100 gold coins, counted out. These ones are platinum. I'm going to take two, which is the 2,000 gold we agreed to earlier. Anyway, these open ones are all the ones with coins. Some other ones have opium in them. The others have rocks, so the boxes all have some heft to them. I can point out the opium if you want. There should be several thousand more gold here, plus what's in the other stashes. Take what you want now, or come back later with the others. Brenda will let you in."

Darykis heads back upstairs with Simon.

"Well, mum, I've got to go. It's been a pleasure working with you. Let this lug or any of his friends in, please."

He hands her a sack. She bends down a bit to take it, and he kisses her cheek.

"I'm going to miss you, you little kook. Take care."

"Sure thing, mum."

He turns to Simon: "So, are you going to honor our agreement and let me go? I plan to be out of the city in the next 24 hours."

Meanwhile:  Erus rests, not knowing the other's locations his time would be wasted trying to find them. He contemplates what may be in the floors below but without his spells he's not about to test those's imagination.
