I’m sick of the far left too

Obviously I am sick of the far right. I can’t tolerate anything they stand for.
But I am sick of the far left too. I mean...not necessarily the far left. I would say I am far left politically. But the radical left is probably a better way of putting it. Really I’m sick of seeing hatefulness. And for people who say they hate bigots they sure do like to use the word retard like it’s not a slur. I’m just tired. I wish I could mute anyone and anything that was about politics for a while. All I see are angry people being hateful to each other and it’s exhausting. Has politics always been this way and I’m just now noticing or..?

It got way worse around the election and I think has ramped up because of midterms. For some reason the radical left attacks not just right wingers, but anyone to the right of them at all. Even saying you should be civil to right wing people is a no go. Which is crazy, I mean how do you even know that they believe what you think they do, when all your news sources are left wing, and you can't have a conversation with the other side, or even with moderates.

That leads towards zero fact checking, which is obviously happening with some of the radical left.

The orange fuckface bully is equating all migrants to defaulting to violence and selling it as such. The orange fuckface bully cant even tell the truth about vote totals or inauguration turnout. The orange bully attacked McCain EVEN after he announced he had cancer. 

There is no equal here. One party has a bully at it's head, those standing up to the bully are not bullies.

Losty, I know you have good intent, and that is great. But sorry, there are points in human history while one would strive to civil discourse, currently in American politics, we are beyond that.

We had politicians in the past defending slavery. We had politicians in the past justifying the genocide of Native Americans. We had politicians defending segregation. We had politicians defending Japanese prison camps. And world wide we can see even today, where propaganda, vilification of outsiders leads, like North Korea and theocracies like Saudi Arabia and Iran.

 No sorry Losty, as long as the orange bully is in office, and as long as he repeats his vile rhetoric of political scapegoating and sell of hate and otherism, not only will I be blunt with him, but his supporters too.

Instead of getting angry at those standing up to the bully, it would be wiser to get angry at the bully, and at those who support the bully.

My mom was a lifetime mostly voting republican. She put me through college and bought me a house. But even she had had enough of that party when he started his run because of his dangerous vile rhetoric. Her roommate at the nursing home was a survivor of Warsaw Poland. Care to ask me what that survivor thought of Trump? 

Civility starts with the leadership, and right now he is not acting like a diplomat, but a authoritarian bully. Nothing good can come from his rhetoric, and to ignore it or pretend civility to his rhetoric will win the day is naive. Sometimes history is ugly when fighting attempts to destroy pluralism. I am sure it makes you uncomfortable, but no, to do nothing and say nothing and to not be blunt to him at this point is not an option.

And then, in addition to a lack of fact checking, there's another problem of them becoming so smug and abrasive that people don't give a shit about whether you're right or not.

Watching the video, there's two things that are pretty clear:

1. Red here has some seriously good points, having gone so far as to create a list of all the legitimate points that MRAs actually have (which is really not that many) and how literally every single one falls under the purview of feminism (even though they tend to focus on their effects on women, and the prejudice+power school undermines that point when they assume that the only prejudices worth fighting are those accompanied by institutional power), and how the Patriarchy, in addition to fucking women over, also fucks over men.
   
2. She is so grating that it's actually hard to care about the points she's actually trying to make, especially when most of the video is of her telling people to shut the fuck up. In fairness, she does have to deal with people trying to shout over her, and, when the video became viral, she apparently admitted that she went a bit too far in this case. The legitimate points she tried to make were overshadowed by her angry demeanor, and she became famous as a strawwoman of the left.
   

People would do good to remember this exchange from the Rick and Morty episode "Vindicators 3: The Return of World-Ender." (Yes, I know that this is Dan Harmon's least favourite episode of the series, and one of the less popular episodes among the fans if the IMDB page is any indication, but bear with me):

Why, yes, it is a difficult tightrope to walk, especially as the world (and America in particular) descends into a behavioral sink and the forces of evil triumph, but if that's what you want to do with your time, and you want to make the world a better place, that's what you have to do if you want to be effective.

Mathew Sheppard was murdered because of centuries of the wholesale bigotry towards gays. Martin Luther King Jr was murdered for the centuries of the wholesale bigotry of insecure white Christians. Now we have an asshole bully in the White House selling fear of blacks, fear of entire religions, fear of migrants. The west has come too far, made too much progress to put up with one man trying to destroy that progress.

Again, this is what the right does not get. If the worst you get from me is a "fuck you" or "don't be a dick" or "you are full of shit", that is not even close to being murdered by a mob, or the state, merely because you are different.

If someone wants to call me ""smug" or "abrasive" that is not the same as saying I want them dead, it just means I want them to stop being fucking bullies.

The Right is more abrasive than the left, anyway. And unlike the right, the left actually sometimes denounces their fringe elements (Obama and Louis Farrakhan for example). While the Right embraces theirs.

The left is always held to a higher fucking standard. I guess it's because the Right is a bunch of lunatics in the first place, so nobody expects much of them.
