Are we surprising?

Though I find it considerably harder these days to be surprised by much of anything, every now and then something comes along. I think it's just a matter of who is coming across what and in what way that thing impacts him or her. We've all experienced different things in life; what may surprise one is possibly common to another.

I will say that I was surprised by the nature of this topic, having expected it to be something quite different before entering.

I had expected something atheism related, such as 'Does it surprise people when you tell them you are atheist?' or something similar. However, that was obviously not the case! And in retrospect I shouldn't be too surprised considering this is the off-topic section.
