This is just my opinion, and it could be wrong, but it appears like the underlying issue here is that a democrat (Clarke) sided with Trump, so he got put on someone's naughty list. Same thing happened to Kanye. He was embraced by the democrats as a potential presidential candidate, then when he befriended Trump, he became an outcast to them politically.

Clarke is his own terrible person with his own flaws. It's not his association with some other dipshit that makes him a dipshit - he did that all by himself.
