Who cares 4 police officers were shot. Who cares about about the amount of suicides, or domestic violence or children accidentally shooting themselves or others. If it bleeds it leads. Cant fuck with their bread and butter.

Cool story bro...not enough CAPS though...

Calm the fuck down you maniac and let the information come out.  Most of us have learned that initial reports end up to be pretty far from the whole story when all is said and done.  Unless are being told to duck and fucking cover...jumping to conclusions and expecting reactions isn't needed quite this early.

Please provide a link that explains how this was domestic violence or a child shooting. Or admit that you are doing that hand-wringing what about the children shit you have nearly perfected.

I do concede that there's a good chance that mass murderers who lack access to gun will move on to vehicular ramming attacks (like in Nice, Charlottesville, or Toronto), but to assume that guns are not even part of the problem when mass shootings have been skyrocketing is disingenuous.

I didn't 'fail' to mention them. I didn't mention them because I was talking in terms of numbers of lives saved. Mass murders are a serious problem, but they are a small number of gun deaths. Of course I'm mortified by mass murders. And I agree with you that people feeling homicidal rage will turn to other things if they don't have access to guns. I am actually more afraid of what other things they might turn to, some of which can rack up a much higher body count. For example, no mass shooter has managed to rack up the body count that Timothy McVeigh did.

Bear in mind, it's a hell of a lot easier to shoot some bastard than to make a bomb like Timothy McVeigh did. There's a lot of information online, and a lot of it is bullshit.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017...s-not-easy

There's a very good chance that some budding mad bomber will find instructions on how to make a bomb, and it'll end up being a dud. Just look at the Columbine kids. If they actually could pull off the bomb they were building [protip: the Anarchist's Cookbook is utter shit, whether it's the real one or one of the online guides claiming to be the real one], the 14 kids who died in the shooting would have been an afterthought to the hundreds who would have died. And odds are, in this case, the budding Timothy McVeigh will likely have a lower body count, either because their bomb killed them before they killed anyone else, or because it failed and it immediately gets them on the police's (or DHS') radar.

I have no idea how the Anarchist Cookbook became so famous. That book is complete garbage. Everyone knows that The US Army Improvised Munitions Manual TM 31-210 is a real go to manual, along with The Poor Man's James Bond. But if you understand a little bit about the physics of explosions and just a smidgeon of the chemistry of poisons, you can do a hell of a lot of damage far more easily than anything that you will read in the Improvised Munitions Manual or The Poor Man's James Bond. You don't have to be that much of a Macgyver to do horrible things. I'm a little surprised that horrible things don't happen more often. But right now, we don't have homicidal people who are thinking outside the box very much.

Building bombs is easy - you have all the knowledge necessary is you simply stayed awake in high school chemistry class...

Building a gun would take far more knowlege and practical experience. That would take a high school education and a year or two of machining experience.

Point being - neither one is rocket science.

No I will not "calm down". This epidemic is 40 years old, and it should not be normalized or acceptable. 5 more dead.

And again, I don't give a fuck about motive, disturbed is disturbed, school shooting, mentally ill, workplace grudge, domestic violence, racially motivated, religiously motivated, it does not matter. We cannot keep making firearms like candy and handing them out like candy.

Now again, when I  talk about stop making them like candy, and handing them out like candy, I am not calling for a 100% ban. Australia and Canada and Japan allow firearm ownership too. But what they don't have is an unhealthy blind worship.

Guns are far more easy to commit violence with because they allow distance between the user and intended target. It is the #1 method of suicide alone. The other reason our allies don't have the amount of firearm violence we do, among wealthy nations, is that they also have better economics, better health care and more worker stability.

In the US guns are the #1 method of suicide, and suicide is about 2/3 of gun deaths. Now when you look at the suicide rates of other countries, the US doesn't stand out. The Japanese are a little more prone to suicide per 100,000 people. The Canadians and Australians a little bit less. So this means that fewer guns does not equal fewer suicides. So we won't reduce the number of suicides by removing guns from the equation.

Now homicides have been declining. Homicides are about half of what they were 25 or 30 years ago. Guns homicides are half of what they were.

So to me it makes a lot more sense to worry about things that are killing people that haven't been declining, or have been on the rise. We get ourselves and each other killed with our cars. And cars kill as many as guns. And there is the opioid epidemic that is now killing as many people as cars.

Given that a gun ban won't significantly reduce 2/3 of gun deaths, it seems to make more sense to concentrate on these other things that are killing people.

Now, you are probably angry at me, because I have said these things to you before. But hey, the thing that really bothers me about people like you, is that I get the sense that you don't really care about the people who are dying. You just want to use their deaths as a Mount Moral to stand on top of and take a selfie. Car related deaths and Opioid deaths are uninteresting to you, because the image of being a moral crusader against guns is just so much more appealing to you. But you are a phony who is using other people's tragedies to feel good about yourself.

OMG, please stop with the excuses. "Declining" um no, and even if I agreed, our numbers of gun injuries and deaths is still unacceptable regardless.

"People like me"? Yea I am so evil for wanting to live in a society where nobody has to worry about their brains getting blown out merely for being in public.

My dad got drunk off his ass when I was a kid, shot his 38 with me in the room. I have a chest of drawers and a music box with  bullet holes in them. Damned right I give a shit, and no I will not apologize.

And if you want to address the Opiate crisis, investing in  mental health care, addiction help,  health care in general, and wages that meet the cost of living, and stand up to big pharma, that would help long term. Our opiate epidemic is mostly do to doctors over prescribing because big pharma has been pushing pills, then when the prescriptions run out, the patient is already an addict on legally prescribed pills, that creates a market for street opiates.

And the way to stop drugs coming in regardless, isn't a vanity wall, but more technology, more agents, at legal ports of entry.

I value empathy, and Gawdzilla has it.

Don't confuse being pissed off over important subjects as meaning being unhappy 24/7 every minute of the day.

I don't spend 24/7 talking about how uber cute my cat is, but then again, my cat has never gone on a killing spree.

I do focus on firearm violence because right now, it is an epidemic in our country. I don't see what is wrong in trying to get others to focus on a problem that needs to be solved.

The amount of firearm violence is harmful, unlike my cat who licks my ear every morning to wake me up so I will feed him.
