I love red wine, but white wine sets off my asthma, I have no idea why, I assume it's the sodium metabisulphate producing sulphur dioxide that does it, but both red and white have it. Makes no sense, but then I'm strange!

I just bought a bottle today. It had been years since my last one. Just had a taste again today, and wondered why I hadn't had it in so long.

Normally I cant stand the taste of most wines.. But this is one I do like. It is very sweet.

Sounds a bit too sacharine to me, the sugar content is HUGE.

But don't let that stand in your way. The wine snobs will launch exocet missiles your direction just for not having the "right" opinion. That's all a big load.

I like wine and I know what I like and that's it.

My personal weakness is Chablis, a delicate white. Great with a fish dinner. The Chablis region is so small that the price gets elevated due to limited supply. The snobs make that worse.

Geez, I miss wine!  (I gave up drinking in 2002)

South Australia produces world class wines, in 4 different regions. Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and Tasmania, all produce excellent  wines. 

Never really had a a favourite, unless it was Veuve Cliquot, too expensive to have often.

Rest of the time, it depended on situation: with say steak,  the best reds  I've ever had were a Malbec, from my dad. ( he worked at the wine show, and got lots of freebies) Locally, I found an  inexpensive, fantastic burgundy, sold in half bottles, which is rare here.

At barbeques,  fuller reds, such as  Shiraz,, Cabenet Sauvignon, or a local rough red in a cask (at the time, about $2 a litre)

With desert, perhaps a very good sauterne, or spatlese. A vintage port with the cheese. 

Just sitting talking drinking, perhaps a Chardonnay, fairly dry Reisling or a fruity Moselle.--there are  also some fantastic sparkling pinot noir to be had, some giving the French a challenge, and far cheaper.


Sorry to be so long winded; can't drink any more, so all I have is memories and the vicarious pleasure of others' experiences

I no longer consume alcohol. When I did however, my favorite wine was Ańejo Tequila. It's my favorite beer as well.

Yes, sulfide preservatives  are part of a fairly common problem with asthmatics and red wine. Red wine also contains more histamines than other wines.:
