How do you prove they are " fake claims"?

You can't.

They are the ones who get to choose who is legitimate, and they say they are.....(circular logic)

Don' t blame me - I didn't make this shit up.

I'm not blaming you for anything. I'm wondering if you have a problem with tribes having their own land and laws or just that they accept people into their nations who aren't native by blood? I would think they could do that via marriage and that there are plenty of white natives these days who have just been watered down for a few generations. Can you tell the difference? Then, why assume nefarious intent? Is it because you think natives are slimy little liars? Just asking.

Folks generally have to provide genealogical research and documentation of ancestry in order to apply for tribal recognition though, don't they?

And phenotype is not the criterion. Bloodline is.
Lineage is what matters. The connection to the ancestors.

Not skin or eye color. Or last name.

Believe or not, worthiness and acceptance doesn't come necessarily down to color for many native/indigeneous folks.
Lol...Imagine that.

Americans aren't monopolizing bigotry. Are you English? You guys are pretty good at being bigots too, dude.

Let's not try to avoid bigotry and nose dive straight into nationalism.

These issues are predominantly raised by Americans because America is fast becoming a fascist theocracy. Trans people are canaries in the coal mine and are the prime focus of the right wing American Christians right now since they have lost their fight against stigmatising homosexuality.

If your ideology requires a gender normative society, as all right wing authoritarian societies are, then the easiest targets are trans people due to their rarity, and the fact that not appearing to conform to a gender strict society can easily make other people very uncomfortable if they are trying to conform themselves and fear the consequences of not doing so. Once you have turned society against trans people then homosexulity is the next target to focus on and defeat, followed by women's rights. Think of all the progress that society has made and then think that rewinding it does the exact same thing but in reverse.

My problem - living according to contracts made over a century old - with none of the signers of the contract living. Especially so - when you are granting rights by nothing more than accident of birth.

If we are to accept " being born to it" - perhaps we should adopt a caste system like in India.....

...

And why would anyone lie about being native?

It's what remains of their land. A small concession, if you ask me.

Most of which was taken from them, ironically, via the adoption of a caste system known as white supremacy.
The settlers just called it "Manifest Destiny"...Lol

And you want to complain that you can't control and lay claim to reservation land too?

Now that's just greedy.  Read

Isn't that rather like the US Constitution?

How people choose to live their life, really isn't any of my business. As long as you are not purposely going out of your way to inflict harm or pain on others, I say, more power to you.

Couldn't agree more.  As I said, this identity stuff doesn't impact me enough to worry about, and doesn't impact society enough to bother with (other than safeguarding rights).
