Yes , There is not only room but they is philosophy that is part of Hinduism which promotes Atheism.
There is large proportion of hindus who are atheists, it just that they don't contradict others ....
I myself am no less than atheist...i don't goto temples, I don't pray and don't do many religious things...and majority of hindus upbring their child in this manner ...
Oops I forgot to tell you name of that philosophy its called as charvaka philosophy.

Wow! I looked up Charvaka, and it seems really cool. I don't want to start a discussion in your intro thread or anything, but hopefully you might discuss it in our philosophy forums.

Even as an atheist, I have always found many Hindu texts beautiful and profound. I like the Gita, some of the Vedas and the Upanishads... anyway, I hope you join in/create some discussions here.

It's unfortunate that hinduism went off the rails in their own style of inquisition, excluding charvaka from orthodoxy, lol.  Wink
